Mark Russell (composer)
Mark Russell (born 23 May 1960) is a British composer whose works include music for the television series '' Cold Feet'', ''Murder City'', ''The Bill'', ''The Worst Witch'', ''Inspector George Gently'' and ''Kingdom''. He presented '' Mixing It'' with Robert Sandall on BBC Radio 3 from 1990 to 2007, when the programme ended. His score for ''Cold Feet'' was nominated for a BAFTA Award for Best Original Television Music in 1999, though lost to Ben Bartlett's score to ''Walking with Dinosaurs''. In 2012 his score for the BBC series ''Leonardo'' was nominated for an Ivor Novello Award in the Best Television Soundtrack category. His score for the ''Best Of Men'', the BBC2 biopic of Ludwig Guttmann the founder of the Paralympics starring Eddie Marsan, was nominated for an RTS award in 2012. University Radio York (commonly known as URY) is a University Radio station covering the campuses of the University of York. It was the first legal independent radio station in the United Kingdom. Broadcasting from Vanbrugh College on the University's west campus, URY has won a number of awards from various organisations including the Student Radio Association of which it is a member. About Like most student radio stations, University Radio York is run entirely by volunteers, all students studying at the University of York. The station broadcasts 24 hours a day. Churcher's College is an independent, fee-charging day school for girls and boys, founded in 1722. The Senior School (ages 11–18) is in the market town of Petersfield, Hampshire with the Junior School and Nursery (ages 2 years, 9 months–11) in nearby Liphook. ''The Best of Men'' is a factually based 2012 television film which describes the pioneering work of Dr Ludwig Guttmann with paraplegic patients at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, which led to the foundation of the Paralympic Games. It stars Eddie Marsan and Rob Brydon. The film won the Philadelphia Jewish Film Festival 34 Best Narrative Audience Award. Plot Ludwig Guttmann ( Marsan) is a Jewish refugee from Nazi Germany, sponsored to stay in the United Kingdom by CARA, while his patients were injured British servicemen, initially bewildered at finding themselves under the care of one of "the enemy". On arrival at the hospital, the patients are kept under sedation, and immobile in bed, a regime leading to bedsores, infection, and, in many cases, death.
