Mark Peskanov
Mark Peskanov (born in Odesa, Ukraine – then part of the USSR) is an American virtuoso violinist, known as a soloist, chamber musician, composer, conductor, and concert presenter. Biography Peskanov began playing the piano at age three, and the violin at seven. He received early musical training at the Stolyarsky school.Barbara Lourie Sand (1 November 2005). School Of Stolyarsky
Stolyarsky School is a music school for musically gifted children established in 1933 in Odesa, Ukraine, by the violin pedagogue Pyotr Stolyarsky. At the start of his career, Stolyarsky, a master violinist, offered private violin lessons in his studio and subsequently became the founding member of the Stolyarsky Specialized Music School of Odesa. The school offered musical instruction for gifted children from a young age; to be admitted to the school, a child had to have perfect pitch and was examined in a series of rigorous evaluations. Bargemusic, formally known as ''Bargemusic, Ltd.'' is a classical music venue and cultural icon in Brooklyn. Founded in 1977, it is housed on a converted coffee barge moored at Fulton Ferry Landing on the East River near the Brooklyn Bridge. History Olga Bloom founded Bargemusic in 1977, following the transformation of the coffee barge into a music hall in that same year, and the programming has evolved over time while not losing the intimacy of the performance space, which some compare to a floating living room.
