Mark Nichols (golfer)
Mark Andrew Nichols (born 29 December 1965) is an English professional golfer. Nichols was born on the Isle of Sheppey. He played on the European Tour in 1994 and 1995, and the second tier Challenge Tour from 1990 to 1993, and again in 1996. He appeared in just one major, the 1995 Open Championship at St Andrews, where he made the cut. Since leaving the tour, Nichols works as a teaching professional, and is currently employed at Moscow City Golf Club. Isle Of Sheppey
The Isle of Sheppey is an island off the northern coast of Kent, England, neighbouring the Thames Estuary, centred from central London. It has an area of . The island forms part of the local government district of Swale. ''Sheppey'' is derived from Old English ''Sceapig'', meaning "Sheep Island". The Open Championship
The Open Championship, often referred to as The Open or the British Open, is the oldest golf tournament in the world, and one of the most prestigious. Founded in 1860, it was originally held annually at Prestwick Golf Club in Scotland. Later the venue rotated between a select group of coastal links golf courses in the United Kingdom. It is organised by the R&A. The Open is one of the four men's major golf tournaments, the others being the Masters Tournament, the PGA Championship and the U.S. Open. Since the PGA Championship moved to May in 2019, the Open has been chronologically the fourth and final major tournament of the year. It is held in mid-July. Jeremy Robinson (golfer)
Jeremy Gordon Robinson (born 21 January 1966) is an English professional golfer. Robinson was born in Scarborough and learnt the game as a junior member at Woodhall Spa Golf Club in Lincolnshire, where his father and brother were also members at the time. He was a talented junior golfer and won the Peter McEvoy Trophy in 1982. Robinson studied Economics at Florida State University in the United States, where he was twice named Most Outstanding Athlete in the Metro Conference. In 1987 he won the Brabazon Trophy, Berkshire Trophy and Philip Scrutton Jug before turning professional later that year having represented Great Britain and Ireland in the Walker Cup (with a 2–2–0 record). Mathias Grönberg
Mathias David Grönberg (born 12 March 1970) is a Swedish professional golfer who has played on the European Tour, PGA Tour, and their second-tier tours. Amateur career Grönberg was born in Stockholm, Sweden. He won the Swedish Boys Championship in 1988 and the British Youths Open Amateur Championship in 1990. That year he helped Sweden to win the Eisenhower Trophy, and picked up the individual title at that event. Professional career Grönberg turned professional late in 1990. After starting out on the second tier Challenge Tour, he was a member of the European Tour from 1994 to 2003, winning four European Tour events in that time. His best finish on the European Tour Order of Merit was tenth in 1998. However, he was keen to join the PGA Tour in America, repeatedly entering its Qualifying Tournament. The Zambia Open is a men's professional golf tournament played in Zambia, that has been part of the Sunshine Tour since 1996, and was co-sanctioned by the European-based Challenge Tour from 2001 to 2004. It was also an event on the Challenge Tour between 1991 and 1993, having previously part of the now defunct Safari Circuit. History Lusaka Golf Club has traditionally hosted the Zambia Open, but in 2005 a disagreement with the then sponsors, Stanbic, resulted in the cancellation of the tournament, with a new venue being found for the following year. The 1992 Challenge Tour was the fourth season of the Challenge Tour, the official development tour to the European Tour. The tour started as the Satellite Tour with its first Order of Merit rankings in 1989 and was officially renamed as the Challenge Tour at the start of the 1990 season. The Kazakhstan Open was a men's professional golf tournament on the Challenge Tour, the official developmental tour of the European Tour. First played in 2005, it was held at the Nurtau Golf Club in Almaty, Kazakhstan for the first four editions before moving to the Zhailjau Golf Resort, also in Almaty. Between 2010 and 2018 it had alternated between Nurtau and Zhailjau. History Since 2014 the Kazakhstan Open had a prize fund of €450,000, making it one of the richest events on the tour at the time. In 2012 Scott Henry beat HP Bacher at the second hole of a sudden-death playoff.
