Mark Mahon (director)
Mark Mahon (born 1 April 1973) is an Irish film director, writer and producer from Cork city, Ireland. At the age of 22, Mahon was severely injured in an accident and spent several months in hospital recovering. During this time, he started writing. He wrote several screenplays, one novel and one graphic novel called ''Freedom Within the Heart'', which as an unproduced screenplay, won Best Screenplay at the 2005 Action on Film International Film Festival. He subsequently set up a film production company, Maron Pictures. In 2007, Mahon directed his first feature-length film ''Strength and Honour'' starring Michael Madsen and Vinnie Jones. It was released on 20 November 2007 in Ireland and was tested on a limited capacity in the United States on 7 December 2007. As a producer on the film, Mahon was nominated for a "Rising Star Award" at the 2008 Irish Film and Television Awards. Cork ( , from , meaning 'marsh') is the second largest city in Ireland and third largest city by population on the island of Ireland. It is located in the south-west of Ireland, in the province of Munster. Following an extension to the city's boundary in 2019, its population is over 222,000. Action On Film International Film Festival
The Action On Film International Film Festival, also known as the Action On Film Festival, was founded in 2004. It was held in California until 2017 when it moved to the Palms Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. As a hub for many returning filmmakers, AOF has become an Official Distributor to SHORTS.TV as well as programming Feature Films for a number of Indie Theaters. ''Strength and Honour'' is a 2008 Irish sports drama film written, produced and directed by Mark Mahon. It was shot in Cork, Ireland. Filming took place in the city and county including Kinsale, Rochestown, Passage West and the un-opened maternity ward of the Cork University Hospital as well as the new airport. The film had its market premiere preview screening at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2007, and won the "Best Picture" and "Best Actor" awards at the Boston Film Festival. It was released on 20 November 2007 in Ireland and was market tested on a limited capacity in the United States on 7 December 2007. It was given a 15A rating in Ireland. After the US testing, the film was re-cut taking 13 minutes off it and the film was fully completed in 2008. Michael Søren Madsen (born September 25, 1957) is an American actor. He has starred in many films and television series, frequently collaborating with director Quentin Tarantino, most famously in the latter's debut film ''Reservoir Dogs'' (1992). Brian Boru ( mga, Brian Bóruma mac Cennétig; modern ga, Brian Bóramha; 23 April 1014) was an Irish king who ended the domination of the High King of Ireland, High Kingship of Ireland by the Uí Néill and probably ended Viking invasion/domination of Ireland.
