Mark Jenkins (musician)
Mark Jenkins (born 1960) is a Welsh musician and music writer. He has written interviews and instrument reviews for UK and international magazines including ''Melody Maker'', ''New Musical Express'', ''Music Week'', ''International Musician'', ''Keyboard'' (US), and '' Mac Format'', and has also written a book, ''Analog Synthesizers'', 2nd Edition 2019. He currently writes for the US magazine, ''Synth & Software''. Jenkins studied a Combined Arts course at university; he worked in the university television and electronic music studios to create his first live performances. Graduating with a BA Honours degree, he became Music Editor of the magazine ''Electronics & Music Maker''. Working on other publications he interviewed artists including Philip Glass, Depeche Mode, Isao Tomita, Karlheinz Stockhausen and Duran Duran and reviewed instruments from Moog Music, Yamaha, Roland, Sequential Circuits and others. David Vorhaus
White Noise is an English experimental electronic music band formed in London in 1968, after American-born David Vorhaus, a classical bass player with a background in physics and electronic engineering, attended a lecture by Delia Derbyshire, a sound scientist at the BBC Radiophonic Workshop. Derbyshire and Brian Hodgson, then both former members of electronic music project ''Unit Delta Plus'', joined Vorhaus to form the band. Biography ''An Electric Storm'' In June 1969 White Noise released the groundbreaking album ''An Electric Storm'' on Island Records. The album was created using a variety of tape manipulation techniques, and used the first British synthesizer, the EMS Synthi VCS3. Amongst many oddities, the first track on the album, ''Love Without Sound'', employed sped-up tape edits of Vorhaus playing the double bass to create violin and cello sounds. Olympia London, sometimes referred to as the Olympia Exhibition Centre, is an convention center, exhibition centre, event space and conference centre in West Kensington, in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, London, England. Paul Haslinger (born 11 December 1962) is an Austrian musician and composer. He lives and works in Los Angeles, California. Life and career Early life Haslinger was born and raised in Linz, Austria. He attended high school at Kollegium Aloisianum, a Jesuit school near Linz. "All Tomorrow's Parties" is a song by the Velvet Underground and Nico, written by Lou Reed and released on the group's 1967 debut studio album, ''The Velvet Underground & Nico''. Inspiration for the song came from Reed's observation of Andy Warhol’s clique—according to Reed, the song is "a very apt description of certain people at the Factory at the time. ... I watched Andy. I watched Andy watching everybody. I would hear people say the most astonishing things, the craziest things, the funniest things, the saddest things." In a 2006 interview Reed's bandmate John Cale stated: "The song was about a girl called Darryl, a beautiful petite blonde with three kids, two of whom were taken away from her."
