Mark Jenkins (artist)
Mark Jenkins (born 1970) is an American artist who makes sculptural street installations. Jenkins' practice of street art is to use the "street as a stage" where his sculptures interact with the surrounding environment including passersby who unknowingly become actors. His installations often draw the attention of the police. His work has been described as whimsical, macabre, shocking and situationist. Jenkins cites Juan Muñoz as his initial inspiration. In addition to creating art, he also teaches his sculpture techniques and installation practices through workshops. He currently lives in Washington, DC. Life and career Jenkins was born in Alexandria, Virginia, but first began experimenting with tape as a casting medium for creating sculpture in 2003 while living in Rio de Janeiro. Mark Jenkins (born 1960) is a Welsh musician and music writer. He has written interviews and instrument reviews for UK and international magazines including ''Melody Maker'', ''New Musical Express'', ''Music Week'', ''International Musician'', ''Keyboard'' (US), and '' Mac Format'', and has also written a book, ''Analog Synthesizers'', 2nd Edition 2019. He currently writes for the US magazine, ''Synth & Software''. Jenkins studied a Combined Arts course at university; he worked in the university television and electronic music studios to create his first live performances. Graduating with a BA Honours degree, he became Music Editor of the magazine ''Electronics & Music Maker''. Working on other publications he interviewed artists including Philip Glass, Depeche Mode, Isao Tomita, Karlheinz Stockhausen and Duran Duran and reviewed instruments from Moog Music, Yamaha, Roland, Sequential Circuits and others. Mark Jenkin (born 1976) is a Cornish director, editor, screenwriter, cinematographer and producer. He wrote and directed the film '' Bait'' (2019), which earned him a BAFTA Award for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer. Career Jenkin won the Frank Copplestone First Time Director Award at The Celtic Film & Television Festival in 2002 for his debut film '' Golden Burn''. He followed this success with documentaries, shorts and low-budget feature films including '' The Man Who Needed a Traffic Light'', '' The Rabbit'' and '' The Lobsterman'', a documentary on the life of Cornish playwright Nick Darke.
