Mark Ibold
Mark Alan Ibold (born October 17, 1962) is an American musician. He is best known as the bass guitarist of the indie rock band Pavement, with whom he recorded four studio albums. Following Pavement's initial break-up in 1999, Ibold joined the alternative rock band Sonic Youth from 2006 until their end in 2011. Career Based in New York, Ibold's other musical projects have included Dustdevils, of which he was a member in the late 1980s and early 1990s, and Free Kitten, which included Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon, Pussy Galore's Julie Cafritz and Boredoms' Yoshimi P-We. In 2006, Ibold joined Sonic Youth on their '' Rather Ripped'' tour, and as of their 2009 album '' The Eternal'', was a full participating member of the band until they split up in 2011. Pavement (band)
Pavement is an American indie rock band that formed in Stockton, California, in 1989. For most of their career, the group consisted of Stephen Malkmus (vocals and guitar), Scott Kannberg (guitar and vocals), Mark Ibold (bass), Steve West (drums) and Bob Nastanovich (percussion and vocals). Initially conceived as a recording project, the band at first avoided press or live performances, while attracting considerable underground attention with their early releases. Gradually evolving into a more polished band, Pavement recorded five full-length albums and ten EPs over the course of their decade-long career, though they disbanded with some acrimony in 1999 as the members moved on to other projects. In 2010, they undertook a well-received reunion tour, with another international tour currently ongoing in 2022 and 2023. ''Strangers with Candy'' is an American comedy television series produced by Comedy Central. It first aired on April 7, 1999, and concluded its third and final season on October 2, 2000. ''Watery, Domestic'' is the fourth EP by American indie rock band Pavement. It is their final release to feature drummer Gary Young as a member. Background The record marked the recording debuts of both Bob Nastanovich and Mark Ibold on percussion and bass respectively - although both had been touring members for some time, the debut album, ''Slanted and Enchanted'' and the preceding EPs had been recorded by a trio of Stephen Malkmus, Spiral Stairs and Gary Young. Recording All four songs can also be found on '' Slanted and Enchanted: Luxe & Reduxe'', the liner notes to which identify a further 3 songs as having been recorded during the same session.
