Mark Higgie
Mark William Christopher Higgie (born 26 July 1957) is a former Australian diplomat, political advisor, and intelligence analyst. Higgie is now a regular columnist on European affairs, mainly in the Australian edition of ''The Spectator''. He was the List of ambassadors of Australia to Belgium, Australian Ambassador to the European Union and NATO, List of Australian Ambassadors to Belgium, Belgium, and Luxembourg between 2014 and 2017. He previously served as international advisor to the Hon Tony Abbott MP, both when Abbott was Leader of the Opposition (2010–2013) and when he was Prime Minister of Australia, Prime Minister (2013–2014). Viktor Orbán
Viktor Mihály Orbán (; born 31 May 1963) is a Hungarian politician who has served as prime minister of Hungary since 2010, previously holding the office from 1998 to 2002. He has presided over Fidesz since 1993, with a brief break between 2000 and 2003. List Of Australian Ambassadors To Hungary
The Ambassador of Australia to Hungary is an officer of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the head of the Embassy of the Commonwealth of Australia in Hungary. The Australian Government established an embassy in Budapest in October 1984, and appointed its first resident Ambassador, Oliver Cordell. Previously, responsibility for Australian diplomatic representation in Hungary was held in Austria (1971–1985). At the time, Bill Hayden, then Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs, said that closer ties with Hungary could help Australia to encourage dialogue between the United States and the Soviet Union on matters such as disarmament. The Australian Embassy in Budapest closed in July 2013. The Government at the time said the closure was because of budget constraints. The Hungarian Order of Merit ( hu, Magyar Érdemrend) is the fourth highest State Order of Hungary. Founded in 1991, the order is a revival of an original order founded in 1946 and abolished in 1949. Its origins, however, can be traced to the Order of Merit of the Kingdom of Hungary which existed from 1922 until 1946. In 2011 its official name changed from Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary to Hungarian Order of Merit in accordance with the new Hungarian Constitution. It is awarded in either civilian or military divisions. Since 2011, the Hungarian Order of Saint Stephen is the highest State honour of Hungary.
