Mark Edwin Andrews
Mark Edwin Andrews (October 17, 1903 – August 22, 1992) was an American oil executive, who also served as an official in the United States Department of the Navy. Andrews founded Ancon Oil & Gas. Biography Andrews was born in Houston. He was educated at Princeton University, graduating in 1927. He then worked for a number of years in the cotton business before enrolling at the South Texas College of Law, from which he received his law degree in 1934. Andrews joined the United States Navy in 1942 as a lieutenant. He was quickly promoted to lieutenant commander, commander, and captain. He became responsible for purchasing airplanes, engines, and ships for the Navy. In 1946, he became chief of Navy procurement, and in the same year was awarded the Navy's Legion of Merit. At this time, Andrews was responsible for drafting the Armed Services Procurement Act. President of the United States Harry S. Lavone Dickensheets Andrews, (September 18, 1912 – June 4, 2002) was an American architect, recognized for her contributions to residential architecture, office buildings, schools, and health facilities. Andrews was among the pioneering women in architecture, known for her innovative designs and dedication to the preservation of historical structures. She primarily worked in Houston, Texas. Knappogue Castle (Irish: ''Caisleán na Cnapóige'') is a tower house, built in 1467 and expanded in the mid-19th century, located in the parish of Quin, County Clare, Ireland. It has been restored and is open to guided tours. History The original castle was built in 1467 by Seán Mac Conmara (anglicised as MacNamara), son of Síoda Mac Conmara, and is a good example of a late medieval tower house. The castle's name translates as "castle of the place abounding in little hills". In 1571, the castle became the seat of the MacNamara (Mac Conmara) sept, the Earls of West Clancullen. Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens, located in the River Oaks community in Houston, Texas, United States, is a facility of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (MFAH) that houses a collection of decorative art, paintings and furniture. Bayou Bend is the former home of Houston philanthropist Ima Hogg. Bayou Bend was marked with a Texas Historical Commission marker in 1973 and was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. Mansion and gardens The mansion, designed by architect John F. Staub, was built between 1927 and 1928 for Ima Hogg and her brothers, William C. and Michael Hogg.
