Mark Daly (politician)
Mark Daly (born 12 March 1973) is an Irish Fianna Fáil politician who has served as Cathaoirleach#Leas-Chathaoirleach, Leas-Chathaoirleach of Seanad Éireann since December 2022. He previously served as Cathaoirleach of Seanad Éireann from June 2020 to December 2022. He has served as a Seanad Éireann, Senator for the Administrative Panel since July 2007. Early and personal life Daly was born in Cork (city), Cork in 1973, but is a native of Kenmare, County Kerry. He is a qualified estate agent. He finished third on the RTÉ reality television show ''Treasure Island (show), Treasure Island'' in 2002. Political career He previously worked as an assistant to Member of the European Parliament, MEP Brian Crowley. Seanad Éireann
Seanad Éireann (, ; "Senate of Ireland") is the upper house of the Oireachtas (the Irish legislature), which also comprises the President of Ireland and Dáil Éireann (the lower house). It is commonly called the Seanad or Senate and its members senators (''seanadóirí'' in Irish, singular: ''seanadóir''). Unlike Dáil Éireann, it is not directly elected but consists of a mixture of members chosen by various methods. Its powers are much weaker than those of the Dáil and it can only delay laws with which it disagrees, rather than veto them outright. It can introduce new legislation. Brian Crowley
Brian Donal Crowley (born 4 March 1964) is an Irish former Fianna Fáil politician who served as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for the South constituency from 1994 to 2019. He served as a Senator from 1993 to 1994, after being nominated by the Taoiseach. He is a wheelchair-user as a result of an accident at age 16. Early and personal life Crowley was born in Blackrock, Dublin in 1964, but was raised in Bandon, County Cork, where he attended Hamilton High School. He received a diploma in law in 1993 from University College Cork. His father, Flor Crowley, served as a TD for various Cork constituencies for most of the period between the 1965 general election and the February 1982 election. Alex White (born 3 December 1958) is an Irish lawyer and a former Labour Party politician who served as Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources from 2014 to 2016, Minister of State for Primary Care from 2012 to 2014 and Leader of the Labour Party in the Seanad 2007 to 2011. He served as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Dublin South constituency from 2011 to 2016. He was a Senator for the Cultural and Educational Panel from 2007 to 2011. James Reilly (born 16 August 1955) is an Irish former Fine Gael politician, businessman and medical doctor who served as a Senator from May 2016 to March 2020.
