Mark Corvo
Mark Corvo (born 17 June 1973) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played as a prop-forward for the Canberra Raiders, Adelaide Rams and the Brisbane Broncos in the NRL. Background Corvo was born in Canberra, ACT, Australia. His brother, Alex Corvo, also played for the Canberra Raiders. Playing career Corvo made his first grade debut for Canberra against Penrith in Round 2 1993. Super League War
The Super League war was a commercial competition between the Australian Rugby League (ARL) and the Australian Super League to establish pre-eminence in professional rugby league competition in Australia and New Zealand in the mid-1990s. Super League, backed by Rupert Murdoch and News Corporation, competed with the ARL, supported by Kerry Packer and Optus Vision, in and out of court for broadcasting rights and supremacy in the sport. Super League had attracted several clubs disenchanted with the existing administration, and introduced two new clubs, as it attempted to establish itself as the dominant competition. After much legal action, when the ARL tried to block the new league, Super League ran one season parallel to the ARL's in 1997. At the conclusion of that season a peace deal was reached and the two leagues united to form the National Rugby League, which continues today. Alex Corvo
Alex Corvo is an Australian rugby league trainer and former player who played in the 1990s. He played professionally for the Canberra Raiders before working as a trainer for the Melbourne Storm, Brisbane Broncos and New Zealand Warriors. His brother, Mark Corvo, also played for the Canberra Raiders. Playing career Corvo played five first grade games for the Canberra Raiders during the 1991 NSWRL season. Trainer career Corvo worked as the Salford City Reds' fitness trainer in 2001. Corvo was the Melbourne Storm's head of performance between 2002 until 2013.
