Mark Buckley (Gaelic Footballer)
Mark Buckley (born 1998) is an Irish Gaelic footballer who plays at club level with Dohenys and at inter-county level with the Cork senior football team. He usually lines out as a forward. Dunmanway
Dunmanway (, official Irish name: ) is a market town in County Cork, in the southwest of Ireland. It is the geographical centre of the region known as West Cork. It is the birthplace of Sam Maguire, an Irish Protestant republican, for whom the trophy of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship is named. There is disagreement over the meaning and origin of the town's name. Various sources list its meaning when translated from Irish as "the castle of the yellow river," "the castle on the little plain," "the fort of the gables (or pinnacles)," and "the fort of the yellow women." The town centre is built on and around two rivers, which are tributaries of the larger River Bandon, which passes by at the east end of the town. The town is twinned with Quéven, France. 2017 Cork Senior Football Championship
The 2017 Cork Senior Football Championship was the 129th staging of the Cork Senior Football Championship since its establishment by the Cork County Board in 1887. The draw for the 2017 fixtures took place on 11 December 2016. The championship began on 9 April 2017 and ended on 22 October 2017. Carbery Rangers were the defending champions, however, they were defeated by St. Finbarr's at the semi-final stage. On 22 October 2017, Nemo Rangers won the championship after a 4-12 to 3-13 defeat of St. Finbarr's in a final replay at Páirc Uí Chaoimh. This was their 20th championship title overall and their first title since 2015. Steven Sherlock of the St. Finbarr's club was the championship's top scorer with 2-48. Dohenys Gaelic Footballers
Dohenys is a Gaelic Athletic Association club, fielding Gaelic football and Hurling teams in the town of Dunmanway, County Cork, Ireland. It won its only Cork Senior Club Football Championship in 1897. Other titles won include 2 Cork Intermediate Football Championships in 1972 and 1995, and 3 Cork Junior Football Championships in 1935, 1966, and 1993. In 2007, the club won its first ever county hurling championship when it won the Cork Junior B Hurling Championship. The club is part of the Carbery division of Cork. The Sam Maguire Cup which is presented to the All-Ireland winning football team each year is named after Dunmanway's most famous son, Sam Maguire who is buried in St. Mary's Graveyard. The All-Ireland Senior Football Championship (SFC) ( ga, Craobh Shinsir Peile na hÉireann) is the premier competition in Gaelic football. An annual tournament organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), it is contested by the county teams in All-Ireland. The first tournament was held in 1887; it has been held every year since 1889. Each tournament ends with a final, played by the 35th Sunday of the year at Croke Park in Dublin, with the winning team receiving the Sam Maguire Cup. The Munster Senior Football Championship, known simply as the Munster Championship and shortened to Munster SFC, is an annual inter-county Gaelic football competition organised by the Munster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county Gaelic football competition in the province of Munster, and has been contested every year, bar one, since the 1888 championship. 2020 Cork Senior A Football Championship
The 2020 Cork Senior A Football Championship was the inaugural staging of the Cork Senior A Football Championship since its establishment by the Cork County Board. The draw for the group stage placings took place on 19 November 2019. The championship was scheduled to begin in April 2020, however, it was postponed indefinitely due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Gaelic games. The championship eventually began on 24 July 2020 and, after being suspended once again on 5 October 2020, eventually concluded on 19 June 2021. The final was played on 19 June 2021 at Páirc Uí Chaoimh in Cork, between Éire Óg and Mallow, in what was their second meeting in that year's championship but their first meeting in a final in any grade. The 2019 Cork Senior Football Championship was the 131st staging of the Cork Senior Football Championship since its establishment by the Cork County Board in 1887. The draw for the opening round fixtures took place on 15 January 2019. The championship began on 18 March 2019 and ended on 27 October 2019. St. Finbarr's entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were beaten by Nemo Rangers at the quarter-final stage. Femoy secured promotion to the top tier championship after a 54-year absence. On 27 October 2019, Nemo Rangers won the championship after a 2–08 to 0–10 defeat of Duhallow in the final at Páirc Uí Rinn.
