Marjorie Parker
Dame Marjorie Alice Collette Parker, DBE ( Shoppee; 30 June 1900 – 18 February 1991), known as Margot Parker, was an Australian civic and political activist who was created a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1977. Family life Born in Ballarat as Marjorie Alice Collett Shoppee to Walter Collett Shoppee and Victoria Alice (née Tilley), she attended Ballarat State School. She married James Maxwell Parker on 12 June 1926; they had one child, a son, Alan. Career From 1941 to 1969, she was an announcer and director of women's interests with 7EX Radio in Launceston. In 1954, Parker became the Public Relations Adviser for the Girl Guides Association, a position she held until 1968. Beginning in 1961, she was president and organiser of the Launceston Red Cross Meals on Wheels for ten years. Margot Parker
Margaret Lucille Jeanne Parker (born 24 July 1943) is an English politician who served as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for the East Midlands region between 2014 and 2019. She was born in Grantham and educated at Kesteven and Grantham Girls' School and De Montfort University, where she read Law. Parker stood as a candidate for Libertas in the 2009 European election in the East Midlands. She was second on the party list; the party won 0.6% of the vote and no seats. By the following year she had defected to the UK Independence Party (UKIP). She stood in Sherwood in the 2010 general election, finishing 5th (1,490 votes, 3%). In 2012, she stood in the Corby by-election, finishing third with 5,108 votes (14.3%).
