Mariya Dolgopolova (born in Kharkiv) is a Ukrainian short track speed skater. She began training in 2009 in Kharkiv, Ukraine. A friend invited her to try the sport. She enjoys it because of its speed and close contact. Dolgopolova competed at the 2012 Winter Youth Olympics for Ukraine. Short-track speed skating is a form of competitive ice skating, ice speed skating. In competitions, multiple skaters (typically between four and six) skate on an oval ice track with a length of . Mixed-NOCs Participation At The 2012 Winter Youth Olympics
Teams made up of athletes representing different National Olympic Committees (NOCs), called mixed-NOCs teams, participated in the 2012 Winter Youth Olympics. These teams participated in events composed entirely of mixed-NOCs teams. The 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games (german: Olympische Jugend-Winterspiele 2012), officially known as the I Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG), were an international multi-sport event for youths that took place in Innsbruck, Austria, on 13–22 January 2012. They were the inaugural Winter Youth Olympics, a major sports and cultural festival celebrated in the tradition of the Olympic Games. Approximately 1100 athletes from 70 countries competed. Short track speed skating at the 2012 Winter Youth Olympics was held at the Tyrolean Ice Arena in Innsbruck, Austria from 20 to 22 January. The difference in the Youth Olympic program for short track speed skating compared to the Winter Olympics, was that there was no 1500 metre event and no relay for each gender, instead a mixed NOC relay took place.
