Écully
Écully (; frp, Èculyé) is a commune in the Metropolis of Lyon in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in eastern France just west of Lyon. It is the location of the Paul Bocuse Institute, which is partially situated inside the ''Château du Vivier''. It is also the location of many higher education institutions, including École de Management de Lyon and École centrale de Lyon. The women's 3 metre springboard diving competition at the 2012 Olympic Games in London took place from 3 to 5 August at the Aquatics Centre within the Olympic Park. China's Wu Minxia won the gold medal and He Zi, also from China, took silver. Laura Sánchez of Mexico won the bronze. Format The competition was held in three rounds: *Preliminary round: All 30 divers perform five dives; the top 18 divers advance to the semi-final. *Semi-final: The 18 divers perform five dives; the scores of the qualifications are erased and the top 12 divers advance to the final. *Final: The 12 divers perform five dives; the semi-final scores are erased and the top three divers win the gold, silver and bronze medals accordingly. The 14th FINA World Championships () were held on 16–31 July 2011 in Shanghai, China at the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center. The 2011 World Championships featured five aquatics disciplines: swimming, water polo, diving, open water, and synchronized swimming. The 2010 European Aquatics Championships were held from 4–15 August 2010 in Budapest and Balatonfüred, Hungary. 2012 European Aquatics Championships
The 2012 European Aquatics Championships were held from 14 to 27 May 2012 in Debrecen, Hungary and Eindhoven, Netherlands. The 2012 European Swimming Championships were to take place in Antwerp, Belgium, but were reallocated to the City of Debrecen and were held on the same dates as previously planned, from 21 to 27 May. The Diving Championships were held in Eindhoven from 15 to 20 May. The Synchronised Swimming discipline, originally intended to take place in Antwerp, have also been reallocated, with its continental titles having been contested in Eindhoven. Originally, the Championships had been awarded to Vienna, but later they backed out due to the Great Recession. The 2012 European Water Polo Championships were held separately a few months earlier, from 16 to 29 January, also in Eindhoven, Netherlands.
