Mario Kern (born 16 August 1969) is a German former professional footballer who played as a defender for Dynamo Dresden, 1. FC Kaiserslautern and VfB Leipzig. He was a part of the East German squad at the 1989 FIFA World Youth Championship The 1989 FIFA World Youth Championship took place in Saudi Arabia between 16 February and 3 March 1989. Deutschland Cup (football)
The Deutschland-Cup was a one-off football competition played in November 1990, to celebrate German reunification. The match was played one week after the dissolution of the East German Football Association and its merger with the German Football Association, and featured the reigning champions of East and West Germany, Dynamo Dresden and Bayern Munich respectively. The match, which was played at the Rudolf-Harbig-Stadion in Dresden, was won 1–0 by Dynamo. Match Details Similar matches A similar match was held on 22 August 1990 to celebrate German reunification. As one of the leading clubs in East Germany, Dynamo Dresden provided 36 East German internationals, including the country's second most-capped player, Hans-Jürgen Dörner, and its joint second top scorer, Hans-Jürgen Kreische. Riesa
Riesa is a town in the district of Meißen in Saxony, Germany. It is located on the river Elbe, approximately northwest of Dresden. History The name ''Riesa'' is derived from Slavic ''Riezowe''. This name, romanised as "Rezoa", appears first in October 1119 in a document from Pope Callixtus II. The world's first 110 kV power line was installed between Riesa and Lauchhammer in 1912. Between 1952 and 1994, Riesa was the seat of a district. During the 1980s, Riesa was the headquarters of the Group of Soviet Forces in Germany's 9th Tank Division. Population history The town grew from the start of the 20th century due to industrialisation. The population declined after German Reunification in 1989.
