''Marilyn Martin'' is the debut studio album by American singer Marilyn Martin, released in January 1986 by Atlantic Records. The album's various producers include Jon Astley, Arif Mardin, Simon Climie, John Parr and Phil Ramone. Three singles were released from the album; "Night Moves (Marilyn Martin song), Night Moves", "Move Closer" and "Body and the Beat". "Night Moves" reached No. 28 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, while "Move Closer" reached No. 34 on the ''Billboard'' Adult Contemporary chart. The Japanese CD release of the album featured the additional track "Thank You" and Martin's 1985 duet with Phil Collins, "Separate Lives". Critical reception Upon release, ''Cashbox (magazine), Cash Box'' listed the album as one of their "feature picks" during February 1986. Marc Hunter
Marc Alexander Hunter (7 September 195317 July 1998) was a New Zealand rock and pop singer, songwriter and record producer. He was the lead vocalist of Dragon (1973–11/1979, 8/1982–1989, 1995–11/1997), a band formed by his older brother, Todd Hunter, in Auckland in January 1972. They relocated to Sydney in May 1975. He was also a member of the Party Boys in 1985. For his solo career he issued five studio albums, ''Fiji Bitter'' (November 1979), ''Big City Talk'' (August 1981), ''Communication'' (September 1985), ''Night and Day'' (August 1990) and ''Talk to Strangers'' (late 1994). Feargal Sharkey
Seán Feargal Sharkey (born 13 August 1958) is a singer from Northern Ireland most widely known as the lead vocalist of punk band The Undertones in the 1970s and 1980s, and for solo works in the 1980s and 1990s. Charlie Dore (born 1956) is an English singer-songwriter, composer, multi-instrumentalist, and actress. Although best known as a singer-songwriter, Dore has a multi-faceted career that includes acting in film, TV and radio, comedy-improvisation, and composition for film and TV. She studied drama at the Arts Educational School, Tring and London. Daryl Mark Stuermer (born November 27, 1952) is an American musician, songwriter, and producer best known for playing the guitar and bass for Genesis during live shows, and lead guitar for Phil Collins during most solo tours and albums. He has also released nine solo albums, and tours with his Daryl Stuermer Band. Early life Stuermer was born on November 27, 1952, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He cites Duane, his elder brother of two years, also a musician, who introduced him to music by Elvis Presley and Ray Charles. Phyllis Nelson (October 3, 1950 – January 12, 1998) was an American singer, most famous for her 1985 song "Move Closer", which topped the chart in the United Kingdom. Her son is the singer and record producer, Marc Nelson, who was a member of Boyz II Men. Career Nelson was born in Jacksonville, Florida, and a member of family group Nelson Five. Jeffrey "Jeff" Pescetto (born November 21, 1954) is an American musical artist who is most notable for collaborating with David Foster on the 1990 recreation of John Farnham's Australian single, "You're the Voice". Pescetto lent the vocals to Foster's pianism on the latter's ''River of Love'' album. He has also written and sung songs for various movie soundtracks. David Grant (born 8 August 1956) is a British singer, comedian and vocal coach. Career Grant became famous in the early 1980s as a member of UK soul/funk duo, Linx, whose biggest hit was "Intuition" in 1981. He began a solo career in 1983 with the top 40 hit "Stop and Go". "One Step Closer to You" is a 1986 hit written by the then-budding songwriting/production team of Carl Sturken and Evan Rogers, along with singer/musician – and later noted soundtrack songwriter – Jeff Pescetto and former Linx frontman David Grant. The song became the only Top 40 Pop hit for noted R&B/ Hip hop singer-songwriter/ producer Gavin Christopher, peaking at #22. Michael Donald Chapman (born 13 April 1947) is an Australian-American record producer and songwriter who was a major force in the British pop music industry in the 1970s.
