Marilee Stepan
Mary Louise Stepan (February 2, 1935 – December 15, 2021) was an American competition swimming (sport), swimmer and Olympic medalist. As a 17-year-old, Stepan represented the United States at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki.Sports-Reference.com, Olympic Sports, Athletes Marilee Stepan Retrieved November 26, 2012. She received a bronze medal as a member of the third-place U.S. team in the Swimming at the 1952 Summer Olympics - Women's 4 x 100 metre freestyle relay, 4×100-meter freestyle relay, together with teammates Jackie LaVine, Jody Alderson and Evelyn Kawamoto. Individually, Stepan also competed in the Swimming at the 1952 Summer Olympics - Women's 100 metre freestyle, women's 100-meter freestyle, advanced to the event final, and finished seventh overall with a time of 1:08.0. Stepan later married Richard Wehman and had four children.

Freestyle is a category of swimming competition, defined by the rules of the International Swimming Federation (FINA), in which competitors are subject to a few limited restrictions on their swimming stroke. Freestyle races are the most common of all swimming competitions, with distances beginning with 50 meters (50 yards) and reaching 1500 meters (1650 yards), also known as the mile.
