Marika Shaw
Marika Anthony-Shaw is a Canadian violist/violinist who was a touring member of the band Arcade Fire and played viola on their albums ''Neon Bible'' and ''The Suburbs''. Prior to her current role, she was an Orchestra (Strings) teacher at Lindsay Place High School located on the West Island of Montreal. She has also played viola on the albums ''Set Yourself on Fire'' by Stars and ''Recording a Tape the Colour of the Light'' by Bell Orchestre. Viola
The viola ( , also , ) is a string instrument that is bow (music), bowed, plucked, or played with varying techniques. Slightly larger than a violin, it has a lower and deeper sound. Lindsay Place High School
Lindsay Place High School (LPHS) is a former public high school situated in Pointe-Claire, Quebec, on the island of Montreal. It was part of the Lester B. Pearson School Board. It opened in September 1962, named after Lindsay H. Place, a Montreal judge who volunteered for the Protestant School Commission, as it was then known. In the 2006–2007 school year the school began offering a new program to students interested in music. The program consisted of private lessons, multiple before school rehearsals and music theory and history classes, called the Arts-Etude program. The Lester B. Pearson School Board will be moving St. Thomas High School students into Lindsay Place High School on Broadview Avenue in Pointe-Claire in July 2021. Bell Orchestre
Bell Orchestre is a six-piece instrumental band from Montreal. It was formed in 1999 by multi-instrumentalist Richard Parry and violinist Sarah Neufeld. Both also joined Arcade Fire. They were joined in Bell Orchestre by Michael Feuerstack (steel guitar), Stefan Schneider (drums/percussion), Pietro Amato (French horn/electronics), and Kaveh Nabatian (trumpet/melodica). (Parry remains with Arcade Fire as well as Bell Orchestre; Neufeld left Arcade Fire. Amato is a member of the Luyas and Torngat, and a and part-time member of Arcade Fire.
