Marijan Maravić (14 September 1660) was a Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bosnian-Herzegovinian prelate of the Catholic Church who served as the bishop of Roman Catholic Diocese of Bosnia, Bosnia from 1647 to his death in 1660. He previously served as the bishop of Diocese of Duvno, Duvno from 1645 to his appointment to the Diocese of Bosnia in 1647 but continued to administer the diocese until 1655. Early life Maravić was born to an affluent Catholic family in Olovo in the Ottoman Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is unknown where he was educated. From 1634 to 1637, he was a guardian of the Franciscan friary, Kraljeva Sutjeska, Franciscan friary in Kraljeva Sutjeska. From 1637 he served as a guardian of the Franciscan friary, Kreševo, Franciscan friary in Kreševo. The Order of Friars Minor (also called the Franciscans, the Franciscan Order, or the Seraphic Order; postnominal abbreviation OFM) is a mendicant Catholic religious order, founded in 1209 by Francis of Assisi. The order adheres to the teachings and spiritual disciplines of the founder and of his main associates and followers, such as Clare of Assisi, Anthony of Padua, and Elizabeth of Hungary, among many others. The Order of Friars Minor is the largest of the contemporary First Orders within the Franciscan movement. Francis began preaching around 1207 and traveled to Rome to seek approval of his order from Pope Innocent III in 1209. The original Rule of Saint Francis approved by the pope disallowed ownership of property, requiring members of the order to beg for food while preaching.
