HC Kuban Krasnodar
HC Kuban Krasnodar is a Russian women's handball team from Krasnodar competing in the Russian Super League. Kuban enjoyed its golden era in the late 1980s, winning two Cup Winners' Cups in 1987 and 1988 by beating TSC Berlin and Vasas Budapest in the final, and reaching the 1990 European Cup's final, lost to Hypo Niederösterreich, after winning the 1989 Soviet Championship. Kuban also played a third unsuccessful Cup Winners' Cup final in 1989. Following the collapse of the Soviet Union Kuban won the transitional CIS Championship, but it hasn't been able to win the new Russian Super League to date. Zvezda Zvenigorod (russian: Звезда Звенигород, lit. ''Star Zvenigorod'') is a Russian women's handball club from Zvenigorod, near Moscow. They won the Champions League and the Champions Trophy in 2008, and the EHF Cup in 2006/07. Between 2006 and 2011 the club was coached by Russian national team trainer Evgeny Trefilov. The European Handball Federation (EHF) is the umbrella organisation for European handball. Founded on 17 November 1991, it is made of 50 member federations and two associated federations (England and Scotland), and is headquartered in Vienna, Austria. History EHF was founded on 17 November 1991 in Berlin, Germany, although the first EHF Congress convened on 5 June 1992 and assigned EHF's headquarters to Vienna, Austria from 1 September that year. In 2012 the EHF Office celebrated 20 years since it first opened its doors. Handball (also known as team handball, European handball or Olympic handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins. Modern handball is played on a court of , with a goal in the middle of each end. Meldonium (INN; trade name Mildronate, among others) is a limited-market pharmaceutical, developed in 1970 by Ivars Kalviņš at the USSR Latvia Institute of Organic Synthesis, and now manufactured by the Latvian pharmaceutical company Grindeks and several generic manufacturers. It is primarily distributed in Eastern European countries as an anti-ischemia medication. Since 1 January 2016, it has been on the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) list of substances banned from use by athletes. Meldonium can be used as a metabolic modulator, changing how some hormones accelerate or slow down enzymatic reactions in the body. The European Women's U-19 European Handball Championship is the official competition for junior women's national handball teams of Europe. Organized by the European Handball Federation, it takes place every two years. The competition received its current name in 2004, until then it was known as the European Women's Junior Handball Championship.
