Marifé De Triana
María Felisa Martínez López (September 13, 1936 – February 16, 2013), known professionally as Marifé de Triana, was a Spanish singer, dancer and actress. Early life Marifé de Triana was born in Burguillos in Seville. She lived in the neighborhood of Triana, leading to her nickname. Career At age 20, she finished works of ''copla'' and was featured in films between 1957 and 1958, 1959 with ''Canto para ti''. She was a pioneer film star in folklore films doing work that later was copied by other singers. In the 1960s she performed many festivals in much success in the theaters of Madrid, Lara, Princess Beatrice, Princess Elizabeth, Cervantes, Seville, Barcelona and all of Spain. During the first half of the twentieth century, she mainly worked in theater, on lyrical spectacles alongside Spanish singers such as El principe Gitano, Juana Reina, Pepe Mairena and La niña de los Peines. Copla (music)
The ''copla,'' ''copla andaluza'' ("Andalusian ''copla''"), ''canción andaluza'', ''canción española'', ''tonadilla'' or ''canción folklórica'' is a form of Spanish popular song, deriving from the poetic form of the same name. Although the genre has a long heritage, it flourished in the 1930s and 1940s, and is epitomized by songwriters Antonio Quintero, Rafael de León and Manuel Quiroga. One of the first singers of ''coplas'' was Raquel Meller. Initially she sang ''cuplé'', which later evolved in Andalusian and Spanish song into the ''copla'' as it is known today. Other well-known singers of ''coplas'' are Imperio Argentina, Manolo Corrales, Estrellita Castro, Concha Piquer, Miguel de Molina, Lola Flores, Marifé de Triana, Juanita Reina, Manolo Escobar, Juanito Valderrama, Sara Montiel and Antonio Molina. Ángel de Andrés Miquel was a Spanish theatre actor and director. Background In 1938, after the Spanish Civil War broke out, the young Andrés worked as an amateur street actor and then as a "galán cómico" in the Salvador Videgain theatre company. In the following years, 1940 played roles in the Isbert, Infanta Isabel and María Guerrero theatre companies, among others. Andrés began his own theatre company with Antonio Casal, which became very successful. It was there that Andrés met actress Chity Juárez. Ignacio Fernández Sánchez (7 May 1922 – 24 November 2012) better known as Tony Leblanc was a Spanish actor, director, and comedian. Biography Tony Leblanc was born on the grounds of the Museo del Prado at Madrid, where his family lived because of his father's employment as the museum's janitor. In his teens he was fond of boxing, becoming champion of the lightweight Castilla "amateur", while participating in amateur theatre. He was also a soccer player in the Third Division of Real Club Deportivo Carabanchel in which he scored 23 goals, making him the top scorer of the Third Division. Leblanc made his professional acting debut in 1944 with Celia Gámez's company. Castanets Players
Castanets, also known as ''clackers'' or ''palillos'', are a percussion instrument (idiophone), used in Spanish, Kalo, Moorish, Ottoman, Italian, Sephardic, Swiss, and Portuguese music. In ancient Greece and ancient Rome there was a similar instrument called the crotalum. The instrument consists of a pair of concave shells joined on one edge by a string. They are held in the hand and used to produce clicks for rhythmic accents or a ripping or rattling sound consisting of a rapid series of clicks. They are traditionally made of hardwood (chestnut; Spanish: castaño), although fibreglass has become increasingly popular. In practice, a player usually uses two pairs of castanets. One pair is held in each hand, with the string hooked over the thumb and the castanets resting on the palm with the fingers bent over to support the other side.
