Marieke Vervoort
Marieke Vervoort (10 May 1979 – 22 October 2019) was a Belgian Paralympic athlete with reflex sympathetic dystrophy. She won several medals at the Paralympics, and she received worldwide attention in 2016 when she revealed that she was considering euthanasia. Career Vervoort began her career in sports playing wheelchair basketball, then took up swimming, and competed in triathlons. She was paratriathlon world champion in 2006 and 2007, and in 2007, competed in the Ironman Triathlon in Hawaii. She retired from triathlons when her condition became worse. Instead, she started blokarting and then wheelchair racing. In the 2012 London Paralympic Games, she won the gold medal in the T52 100m wheelchair race, and the silver medal in the T52 200m wheelchair race. Marieke Lucas Rijneveld
Marieke Lucas Rijneveld (born 20 April 1991 in Nieuwendijk, the Netherlands) is a Dutch writer. Rijneveld won the 2020 International Booker Prize together with his translator Michele Hutchison for the debut novel ''The Discomfort of Evening''. Rijneveld is the first Dutch author to win the prize, the first non-binary person to do so and only the third Dutch author to be nominated. Life Rijneveld grew up in a Reformed protestant family on a farm in North Brabant in the Netherlands. Marieke Blaauw (born 1979, in Hilversum) is a Dutch animator. Life Blaauw was born in 1979 in Hilversum. She studied at the Design Academy Eindhoven in the Netherlands. She graduated in 2002. In 2005 she worked as an animator on the stop motion children series Miffy at studio Pedri in Ankeveen. In 2007 she co-founded animation studio Job, Joris & Marieke together with Job Roggeveen and Joris Oprins. Job, Joris & Marieke works on commissioned work, music videos and short animated films. Anne Marie Louise (Marieke) Wijsman (born 9 May 1975) is a Dutch former speed skater who represented her country in two Winter Olympics, and who was the first female speed skater to compete internationally on clap skates. Early years Wijsman was born in Leusden, near Utrecht, Netherlands, and became a member of a local speed skating club in Ankeveen during the 1988-89 season. She first competed at the age of thirteen at the Jaap Edenbaan in Amsterdam, where she fell in the 500m race due to nervousness.
