Marie Antoinette (TV Series)
''Marie Antoinette'' is an historical drama television series created and written by Deborah Davis, writer of ''The Favourite''. It is produced by the BBC and Canal+ and based on the life of the last queen of France before the French Revolution, who was 14-years old when she became Dauphine of France upon her marriage to the heir apparent, Louis-Auguste. The first series premiered in France during October 2022 and in the UK on 29 December, and consists of eight episodes. German actress Emilia Schüle plays the titular role. Marie Thérèse Louise (; 8 September 1749 – 3 September 1792) was a member of the Savoy-Carignano cadet branch of the House of Savoy. She was married at the age of 17 to Louis Alexandre de Bourbon-Penthièvre, ''Prince de Lamballe'', the heir to the greatest fortune in France. After her marriage, which lasted a year, she went to the French royal court and became the confidante of Queen Marie Antoinette. She was killed in the massacres of September 1792 during the French Revolution. Youth Maria Teresa Luisa was born on 8 September 1749 at the Palazzo Carignano in Turin. Louis XVIII (Louis Stanislas Xavier; 17 November 1755 – 16 September 1824), known as the Desired (), was King of France from 1814 to 1824, except for a brief interruption during the Hundred Days in 1815. He spent twenty-three years in exile: during the French Revolution and the First French Empire (1804–1814), and during the Hundred Days. Louis XVI (''Louis-Auguste''; ; 23 August 175421 January 1793) was the last King of France before the fall of the monarchy during the French Revolution. He was referred to as ''Citizen Louis Capet'' during the four months just before he was executed by guillotine. Louis XV (15 February 1710 – 10 May 1774), known as Louis the Beloved (french: le Bien-Aimé), was King of France from 1 September 1715 until his death in 1774.
