Maribelle
Maribelle (born Marie Kwakman on 4 April 1960) is a Dutch singer, best known for her participation in the 1984 Eurovision Song Contest. In 1981, Maribelle performed two songs, "Marionette" and "Fantasie", in the Dutch Eurovision pre-selection, only to finish second and third, behind Linda Williams. She had better luck in 1984, when her two songs finished first and second, with "Ik hou van jou" ("I Love You") edging out "Vanavond", and going forward as the Netherlands' representative to the 29th Eurovision Song Contest, held in Luxembourg City on 5 May. Prior to the contest, "Ik hou van jou" had been fancied to do well so its final placing of 13th out of the 19 entries was very disappointing. Ik Hou Van Jou
The Netherlands was represented by Maribelle, with the song "Ik hou van jou", at the 1984 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place in Luxembourg City on 5 May. Maribelle was the winner of the Dutch national final for the contest, held on 14 March. She had previously missed out narrowly in the Dutch selections of 1981. Before Eurovision Nationaal Songfestival 1984 The final was held at the NOS TV studios in Hilversum, hosted by Eddy Becker. Five acts took part, performing two songs each. Frizzle Sizzle were a Dutch teenage girl group of the 1980s. The four members of the group were Karin Vlasblom (born 10 August 1967), Laura Vlasblom (born 8 October 1968), Mandy Huydts (born 9 April 1969) and Marjon Keller (born 1 June 1970). History Early years: Kinderen voor Kinderen The girls debuted in 1981 on the second album of Kinderen voor Kinderen, a children's choir whose ongoing television-shows are broadcast by VARA each November. Bernadette (born Bernadette Kraakman on 1 March 1959) is a Dutch singer, best known for her participation in the 1983 Eurovision Song Contest. Bernadette was not a well-known name when she took part with two songs in the 1983 Dutch Eurovision selection, but she emerged the narrow victor (by just one point) with " Sing Me a Song", which despite the title was sung in Dutch. She went forward to the 28th Eurovision Song Contest, held in Munich on 23 April, where "Sing Me a Song" finished a solid seventh of the 20 entries. Following her unsuccessful partnership with Ingrid Simons in the duo Double Trouble in 1986, Bernadette became a voiceover and backing singer, having worked with artists such as Harry Slinger and Rob de Nijs. Volendam
Volendam () is a fishing town in the municipality of Edam-Volendam, province of North Holland, Netherlands. As of 1 January 2021, it has a population of 22,715. It is twinned with Coventry, England. History Originally, Volendam was the location of the harbour of the nearby Edam, which was situated at the mouth of the IJ bay. In 1357, the inhabitants of Edam dug a shorter canal to the Zuiderzee with its own separate harbour. This removed the need for the original harbour, which was then dammed and used for land reclamation. Farmers and local fishermen settled there, forming the new community of Vollendam, which translates to 'Full dam'. The Netherlands were present at the Eurovision Song Contest 1986, held in Bergen, Norway, after opting out of the previous year's contest in Gothenburg, Sweden. Before Eurovision Nationaal Songfestival 1986 The Dutch national final to select their entry was held on 1 April 1986 at the Theater De Flint in Amersfoort, and was hosted by the pianist and television host Pim Jacobs. Twelve regional juries across the Netherlands selected the winning song. The winning entry was "Alles heeft een ritme", performed by the teenage girl group Frizzle Sizzle. The song was composed by Peter Schön and Rob ten Bokum, and the lyrics were written by Schön.
