Marianne Of My Youth
''Marianne of My Youth'' (French: ''Marianne de ma jeunesse'', German: ''Marianne'') is a 1955 French–West German romantic drama film directed by Julien Duvivier and starring Marianne Hold, Horst Buchholz and Pierre Vaneck.McCann p.174 It was released in separate French language and German language versions. It is based on a 1932 novel ''Schmerzliches Arkadien'' by Peter von Mendelssohn. It was shot at the Bavaria Studios in Munich and on location at Hohenschwangau Castle and at Schloss Fuschl in Salzburg. The film's sets were designed by the art directors Jean d'Eaubonne and Willy Schatz. Marcel Ophüls was the assistant director on the production. Julien Duvivier
Julien Duvivier (; 8 October 1896 – 29 October 1967) was a French film director and screenwriter. He was prominent in French cinema in the years 1930–1960. Amongst his most original films, chiefly notable are ''La Bandera (film), La Bandera'', ''Pépé le Moko'', ''Little World of Don Camillo'', ''Panic (1946 film), Panic (Panique)'', ''Voici le temps des assassins'' and '':fr:Marianne de ma jeunesse, Marianne de ma jeunesse''. Marcel Ophüls
Marcel Ophuls (; born 1 November 1927) is a German-French documentary film maker and former actor, best known for his films ''The Sorrow and the Pity'' and '' Hôtel Terminus: The Life and Times of Klaus Barbie''. Life and career Ophuls was born in Frankfurt, Germany, the son of Hildegard Wall and the director Max Ophüls. His family left Germany in 1933 following the coming to power of the Nazi Party and settled in Paris, France. Following the invasion of France by Germany in May 1940 they were forced to flee to the Vichy zone, remaining in hiding for over a year before crossing the Pyrenees into Spain in order to travel to the United States, arriving there in December 1941. Marcel attended Hollywood High School, then Occidental College, Los Angeles. He spent a brief period serving in a U.S. Army theatrical unit in Japan in 1946, then studied at the University of California, Berkeley. Schloss Fuschl is a luxury hotel located in a historic castle in the gemeinde of Hof bei Salzburg, in the Land Salzburg in western Austria. It stands on a peninsula at the western end of Lake Fuschl, a glacier lake. It contains a collection of old master paintings, and a museum holding objects relating to the film '' Sissi'', parts of which were filmed in the castle. Bavaria Studios
Bavaria Studios are film production studios located in Munich, the capital of the region of Bavaria in Germany, and a subsidiary of Bavaria Film. History The studios were constructed in the suburb of Geiselgasteig in 1919 shortly after the First World War. During their early years they were known as the Emelka Studios, while Geiselgasteig has also often been used to refer to them.
