Marianne Werdel
Marianne Werdel (born October 17, 1967) is an American former professional tennis player. Werdel was born in Los Angeles and played on the WTA Tour from 1982 to 1997. She is also known as Marianne Witmeyer or Werdel-Witmeyer. She won 19 national junior titles. In 1988 Werdel suffered a partially herniated disc, forcing a two-month absence from the tour. At the 1995 Australian Open, unseeded Marianne Werdel defeated fifth-seeded Gabriela Sabatini of Argentina in a first-round match. Werdel won the first set, but Sabatini raced out to a 3–0 lead in the second set before twice losing her serve. Werdel won four consecutive games to close out the match in straight sets, dismissing Sabatini 6–4, 6–4. Werdel had also beaten Sabatini two years earlier at a tournament in Japan. Angélica Gavaldón Loaiza (born 3 October 1973) is a Mexican retired tennis player. Gavaldón has dual nationality, was born in the United States and comes from a Mexican family, and turned pro in 1990. That same year, she qualified for the quarterfinals in the 1990 Australian Open, from which she was eliminated in a match against Claudia Porwik. The Hong Kong Open (currently sponsored by Prudential and called the Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open) is a professional tennis tournament in Hong Kong SAR. Yayuk Basuki
Yayuk Basuki (born 30 November 1970) is an Indonesian former professional tennis player who is now a politician. She is the highest-ever ranked tennis player from Indonesia, having reached No. 19 in singles in the WTA rankings in October 1997. She retired from playing singles in 2000, but remained an active doubles player on the circuit until 2013. She sat in the Indonesian House of Representatives between 2014 and 2019. The Thailand Open (also known as PTT Pattaya Open) was a women's tennis tournament held in Pattaya, Thailand. Held since 1991, this WTA Tour event was classified as an International Series tournament and was played on hardcourts. The event was part of the WTA Tier V series from 1991 to 1992 and then again from 2001 to 2003. It was a Tier IV event from 1993 to 2000 and was promoted back to Tier IV in 2005, after a year's hiatus. Starting in 2009, the tournament became an International Series event. Laura Arraya (born 12 January 1964) is a retired Peruvian tennis player. She was also known by her married name Laura Gildemeister. Woody Blocher
John Woodward Blocher II (born August 24, 1951) is an American former professional tennis player. Born in California, Blocher started getting tennis lessons at the age of seven and was a successful junior player. In 1967, competing in the 16's age division, Blocher won an Orange Bowl title and was the national clay court champion. Blocher played collegiate tennis for Southern Methodist University but was sidelined for much of the time with a serious wrist injury, although he was an All-American in his senior year.
