Marianne Buggenhagen
Marianne Buggenhagen (born 26 May 1953 in Ueckermünde, East Germany) is a Paralympian Track and field, athlete from Germany competing mainly in throwing events. Career history She first competed in the 1992 Summer Paralympics in Barcelona, Spain. There she won four gold medals in discus, javelin, shot put and pentathlon. Then at the 1996 Summer Paralympics in Atlanta, United States she again won the shot and discus and won a bronze in the javelin. The following games in 2000 Summer Paralympics, 2000 in Sydney, Australia she yet again won the shot put. At her fourth games in 2004 Summer Paralympics, 2004 she won her fourth consecutive shot put title and won a silver in the discus throw. Marianne was one of the few athletes to have competed in Barcelona to also compete in the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing, there she failed to win a fifth shot put managing only to win the bronze medal, but did manage to win the discus throw, her twelfth medal in all of ... Paralympic Athletics
Para-athletics is the sport of athletics practised by people with a disability as a parasport. The athletics events within the parasport are mostly the same as those available to able-bodied people, with two major exceptions in wheelchair racing and the club throw, which are specific to the division. The sport is known by various names, including disability athletics, disabled track and field and Paralympic athletics. Top-level competitors may be called elite athletes with disability. The 2016 Summer Paralympics (), the 15th Summer Paralympic Games, were a major international multi-sport event for disabled sports, athletes with disabilities governed by the International Paralympic Committee, held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 7 to 18 September 2016. 2016 IPC Athletics European Championships
The 2016 IPC Athletics European Championships was a track and field competition for athletes with a disability open to International Paralympic Committee (IPC) affiliated countries within Europe, plus Israel. It was held in Grosseto, Italy and took part between 10 and 16 June. The competition was staged at Stadio Olimpico Carlo Zecchini. Approximately 700 athletes from 35 countries attended the games. This was the last edition of the event held under the IPC Athletics title. Russia topped the medal tables in both gold medals won (51) and total number of medals won (131). 2014 IPC Athletics European Championships
The 2014 IPC Athletics European Championships was a track and field competition for athletes with a disability open to International Paralympic Committee (IPC) affiliated countries within Europe, plus Azerbaijan and Israel. It was held in Swansea, Wales and lasted from 18 to 23 August. The competition was staged at Swansea University Stadium. Approximately 550 athletes from 37 countries attended the games. Russia won the Games atop the medal table with 41 Gold medals, and also collected the greatest overall medal haul with 88. The host nation, Britain, finished third. Of the 37 competing nations, 34 managed to achieve a podium finish. There were seven world records set and a further seven European records, in a games that was beset by difficult weather conditions throughout the tournament. The World Para Athletics European Championships (''European Para Athletics Championships''), known prior to 2018 as the IPC Athletics European Championships is an event organized by World Para Athletics, the international athletics federation established under the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) in 2016. 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships
The 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships were a Paralympic track and field meet organized by the World Para Athletics subcommittee of the International Paralympic Committee. The event was the 7th edition of what is now known as the World Para Athletics Championships, held from 21 to 31 October 2015 at the Suheim Bin Hamad Stadium in Doha, Qatar. It featured 119 men's events and 91 women's events. The Marathon events which are traditionally part of the world championships were separated from the competition and instead held on 26 April as part of the London Marathon. Venues In January 2013 the IPC announced that Doha would hold the 2015 athletics world championships. In March 2014 the Suhaim Bin Hamad Stadium, a 15,000-seat venue with an eight-lane track, was confirmed as the host of the event which would take place between 19 and 28 November. The World Para Athletics Championships, known as the IPC Athletics World Championships prior to 2017, are a biennial Paralympic athletics event organized by World Para Athletics, a subcommittee of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).
