Mariana Shevchuk ( uk, Мар'яна Сергіївна Шевчук; born 22 May 1996, Khmilnyk) is a Ukrainian Paralympic powerlifter. She won the gold medal in the women's 55 kg at the 2020 Summer Paralympics held in Tokyo, Japan. A few months later, she won the gold medal in her event at the 2021 World Para Powerlifting Championships The 2021 World Para Powerlifting Championships was a powerlifting competition for athletes with a disability. Khmilnyk ( uk, Хмільник, ; russian: Хмельник; pl, Chmielnik) is a resort town in Vinnytsia Oblast, Ukraine. Administratively, it is incorporated as a town of oblast significance. It also serves as an administrative center of Khmilnyk Raion, one of the 27 districts of the oblast. Population: The town is situated in the upper part of the river Southern Bug, northeast of Vinnytsia. It is one of the oldest towns of Podillia. Paralympic powerlifting, also known as para powerlifting and para-lifting, is an adaptation of the sport of powerlifting for athletes with disabilities. The only discipline in Paralympic powerlifting is the bench press.
