Marian Shinn
Marian Shinn is a South African politician, a former Member of Parliament with the Democratic Alliance (DA), and the former Shadow Minister of Telecommunications and Postal Services. Early life and journalism career Shinn was born and educated in Zimbabwe. She moved to South Africa in 1971 to join the ''Rand Daily Mail'' which helped start her journalism career''.'' Her journalism career continued at ''The Star'' in 1974 where Shinn focused on human rights and social welfare issues. She was on the team that reported from Alexandra, north of Johannesburg, during the June 1976 student uprising. Mmusi Aloysias Maimane (born 6 June 1980) is a South African politician, businessman, and Leader of Build One South Africa, a political party. Maimane is also the former Leader of South Africa, South Africa's opposition Democratic Alliance (South Africa), Democratic Alliance (DA) political party from 10 May 2015 to 23 October 2019, and the former Leader of the Opposition (South Africa), Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly of South Africa from 29 May 2014 to 24 October 2019. 2019 South African General Election
General elections were held in South Africa on 8 May 2019 to elect a new President, National Assembly and provincial legislatures in each province. These were the sixth elections held since the end of apartheid in 1994 and determined who would become the next President of South Africa. Incumbent President Cyril Ramaphosa led the ruling African National Congress, with the party attempting to retain its majority status and secure Ramaphosa a full term in office as president; his predecessor, Jacob Zuma, resigned from office on 14 February 2018. Zuma was already ineligible for a third term in office as the South African Constitution limits a president to serve a maximum of two five-year terms. Pilanesberg
The Pilanesberg (formerly Pilandsberg) is a mountain in the North West Province, South Africa. The mountain is an ancient volcanic structure, circular in shape, that rises from flat surrounding plains. It is formed by three concentric ridges or rings of hills, of which the outermost has a diameter of about 24 km. The Pilanesberg is located 100 km to the North-West of Pretoria and is for the greater part enclosed in a protected area known as Pilanesberg National Park. The Elands River flows South of the Pilanesberg in an Easterly direction. There are a number of platinum mines right at the perimeter of the crater formation. Although the Democratic Party name dates from 1989, the party existed under other labels throughout the apartheid years, when it was the Parliamentary opposition to the ruling National Party's policies. Muizenberg ( , Dutch for "mice mountain") is a beach-side town in the Western Cape, South Africa. It is situated where the shore of the Cape Peninsula curves round to the east on the False Bay coast.
