Maria Vittoria Sperotto
Maria Vittoria Sperotto (born 20 November 1996) is an Italian former professional racing cyclist, who last rode for UCI Women's Continental Team . In November 2021, she set a record for the shortest distance ridden in an hour by a female cyclist. Sperotto retired from competition at the end of the 2021 season. Schio
Schio is a town and comune in the province of Vicenza (region of Veneto, northern Italy) situated north of Vicenza and east of the Lake Garda. It is surrounded by the Little Dolomites (Italian Prealps) and Mount Pasubio. History Its name comes from Latin: ''escletum'' was a wood of oaks and it was first used in a document of some Benedictines from Vicenza. The first settlements were around two old hills, where now there are respectively the ruins of an old castle and a majestic neoclassical cathedral. By the 12th century Schio had become an important centre of prosperous wool manufacturing. The city was ruled by the Venetian Maltraversi family until 1311. Schio is now an industrial town thanks to Alessandro Rossi, who founded the biggest Italian wool firm (Lanerossi) in the 19th century. History In 1995 Australian Bill Mitchell, a keen cyclist and professor of economics at the University of Newcastle, created the website titled "Bill’s Cycling Racing Results and News" after finding there was a need for fast-breaking news and race results in English-speaking countries. In 1999 Sydney-based publishing company Knapp Communications purchased the website from Mitchell, and in July 2007 they sold it to British publisher Future plc for £2.2m. In July 2014 it was bought by Immediate Media Company, along with the print-only ''Procycling'' magazine. In February 2019, Immediate Media sold its cycling titles back to Future. Red Hook Crit was a criterium cycle race, held annually in Red Hook, Brooklyn starting in 2008. The series was founded by David Trimble. Red Hook races were also held in three European cities: Milan starting in 2010, Barcelona starting in 2013, and at the Greenwich Peninsula, London in 2015. Riders used brakeless fixed-gear bicycles. There were often crashes during the races due to the high speeds and technical courses. It was at one time sponsored by Rockstar Games, among others.
