Maria Nielsen
Maria Nielsen (1882–1931) was a Danish historian and headmistress. In 1919, she became one of the first women in Denmark to head a public high school when she was appointed rector of Rysensteen Gymnasium in Copenhagen. She was particularly attentive to pupils from needy homes and strove to provide better living conditions for her female students. Nielsen also published well-sourced history textbooks in an attempt to move away from rote learning. In 1926, she was behind the establishment of Denmark's History Teachers' Union (Historielærerforening) which she chaired until her death. She was also active in the educational activities of the League of Nations, participating in sessions held in Geneva. Vemmetofte
Vemmetofte Convent ( da, Vemmetofte Adelige Jomfrukloster, Vemmetofte Kloster) is a former manor house in Faxe Municipality south of Copenhagen, Denmark. It was turned into a convent by Princess Sophia Hedwig of Denmark in 1735. Since 1975 it has provided housing available to the general public. History Early history The oldest known reference to Vemmetofte Manor dates back to 1320 when it was owned by Johannes Offesen, a brother-in-law of Stig Andersen Hvide who owned land both in Skåneland and on Zealand. Later it was owned by members of the aristocratic Brock family from 1464 to 1639. During this early stage of its history it was a strongly fortified house with a ring wall, double moats and draw bridges. Aagot Lading
Aagot Henny Lading née Petersen (5 July 1909, Aarhus—15 July 1963, Copenhagen) was a Danish schoolteacher, headmistress and women's rights activist. After graduating in English and history, she was a prominent member of the Danish Women's Society (Dansk Kvindesamfund, DK) where she edited ''Kvinden & Samfundet''. In 1950, she became principal of Rysensteen Gymnasium where she emphasized women's history in the school's history lessons. Despite her efforts to maintain its status as a girls school, new regulations required the school to admnit boys in 1958. Frederiksberg Gymnasium
Frederiksberg Gymnasium is an upper secondary school ( Danish gymnasium) in the Frederiksberg district of Copenhagen, Denmark. Its current building, located just off Falkoner Allé, was inaugurated in 2004 to a design by Henning Larsen Architects. The school has 650 students. History Originally a private boys school, the school was founded in 1879 as ''Villakvarterets Forberedelses- og Realskole''. Already the next year changed its name to ''Frederiksberg Latin- og Realskole'' and then again in 1907 to Frederiksberg Gymnasium. Frederiksberg Municipality took over the school in 1917 and in 1946 it was opened to female students.
