Maria Klawe
Maria Margaret Klawe ( ; born 1951) is a computer scientist and the fifth president of Harvey Mudd College (since July 1, 2006). Born in Toronto in 1951, she became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2009. She was previously Dean of the School of Engineering and Applied Science at Princeton University. She is known for her advocacy for women in STEM fields. Biography Klawe was born in Toronto, Ontario. She lived in Scotland from ages 4 to 12, and then returned to Canada, living with her family in Edmonton, Alberta.. Klawe studied at the University of Alberta, dropped out to travel the world, and returned to earn her B.Sc. in 1973. She stayed at Alberta for her graduate studies, and in 1977 she earned her Ph.D. there in mathematics. Jon Strauss
Jon Calvert Strauss is an American academic administrator who has served as a college president at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Harvey Mudd College, Manhattanville College, acting president of Iona University and most recently as interim president of Paul Smith's College from 2020 to 2021. Strauss received his his bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, his masters in physics from the University of Pittsburgh, and his PhD in electrical engineering from the Carnegie Institute of Technology. Strauss served as the 13th president of Worcester Polytechnic Institute from 1985 to 1994. He then briefly served as the chief financial officer of Howard Hughes Medical Institute.
