Maria Andrea Virgilio
Maria Andrea Virgilio (born 17 November 1996) is an Italian Paralympic archer. She won bronze in the Women's individual compound open at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo. She competed at the 2018 European Para Archery Championships, and 2019 European Para-Archery Cup. She won the silver medal in her event at the 2022 World Para Archery Championships The 13th World Para Archery Championships took place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates from 19 to 27 February 2022. 2022 World Para Archery Championships
The 13th World Para Archery Championships took place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates from 19 to 27 February 2022. Originally the event was to take place in 2021 but it was delayed until 2022 by COVID-19 pandemic. It was the first time the switch to a two-archer doubles format rather than three-archer teams for the single-gender competitions. Athletes from China were unable to travel due to ongoing pandemic restrictions. This was the biggest parasport event in Dubai since the city hosted the World Para Athletics Championships in 2019. Archery At The 2020 Summer Paralympics – Women's Individual Compound Open
The women's individual compound open archery discipline at the 2020 Summer Paralympics was held from 27 to 30 August. In the ranking rounds each archer shoots 72 arrows, and is seeded according to score. In the knock-out stages each archer shoots three arrows per set against an opponent, the scores being aggregated. Losing semifinalists compete in a bronze medal match. As the field contained 24 archers, the sixteen lowest ranked archers in the ranking round, will play a preliminary match to decide the last of the round 16 places.
