Maria Akraka
Maria Helene Henriksson Akraka (born July 7, 1966) is a retired Swedish entrepreneur, television host and former athlete. College career Akraka competed as an athlete in both cross country and track & field as Iowa State. She finished her career a four-time All-American and a two-time Big Eight champion. In 2010 she was inducted into the Iowa State Cyclones Hall of Fame. International career She competed in four European Championships, three World Championships, and the 1992 Olympic Games in both the 1,500 m and 800 m races. Post-athletics career Akraka worked previously as a host of betting company ATG's channel, Channel 75, where she interviewed Horse racing jockeys. She also worked for TV4 covering horse racing. 800 Metres
The 800 metres, or meters ( US spelling), is a common track running event. It is the shortest commonly run middle-distance running event. The 800 metres is run over two laps of an outdoor (400-metre) track and has been an Olympic event since the first modern games in 1896. During the winter track season the event is usually run by completing four laps of an indoor 200-metre track. The event was derived from the imperial measurement of a half mile (880 yards), a traditional English racing distance. 800m is 4.67m less than a half mile. The event combines aerobic endurance with anaerobic conditioning and sprint speed, so the 800m athlete has to combine training for both. Runners in this event are occasionally fast enough to also compete in the 400 metres but more commonly have enough endurance to 'double up' in the 1500m. The 400 metres, or 400-meter dash, is a sprint event in track and field competitions. Race Horses
Race Horses were a Welsh band based in Cardiff, Wales and originally from Aberystwyth. Formed in 2005 as Radio Luxembourg, they changed their name in 2009 due to possible legal problems with the radio station of the same name. Initially the majority of their music was in Welsh, but their final album ''Furniture'' was entirely in English. After appearing across Wales and during the debut Festival N°6, the band announced their split in January 2013 and performed a farewell gig the following month at Clwb Ifor Bach. DN Galan
BAUHAUS-galan, formerly known as DN-Galan is an annual, international athletics meeting that takes place at the Olympic Stadium in Stockholm.
