Pair skating is a figure skating discipline defined by the International Skating Union (ISU) as "the skating of two persons in unison who perform their movements in such harmony with each other as to give the impression of genuine Pair Skating as compared with independent Single Skating".S&P/ID 2021, p. 109 The ISU also states that a pairs team consists of "one Woman and one Man". The European Figure Skating Championships is an annual figure skating competition in which figure skaters compete for the title of European champion. Medals are awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance. The Nordic Championships (''Nordiska Mästerskapen'') are an annual elite figure skating competition. It was originally open only to representatives of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. However, representatives of any ISU member nation may enter the senior-level event since 2011 and in the junior-level event since 2020.
