Arnold Davydovich Margolin ( uk, Арнольд Марґолін) (born: , Kyiv – died October 29, 1956, Washington DC) – was a Ukrainian diplomat, lawyer, active participant in Ukrainian and Jewish community and political affairs; attorney who became world-famous as the defense counsel for Mendel Beilis in the notorious Jewish blood libel trial in Kyiv from 1911 to 1913. Bessie Margolin
Bessie Margolin (1909 – June 19, 1996) was an American lawyer and activist. She was a U.S. Department of Labor attorney from 1939 until 1972, arguing numerous cases before the Supreme Court. Margolin undertook a large amount of litigation related to the Fair Labor Standards Act, creating a vast body of law in the area of employment standards in the process. Early life Margolin's parents, who escaped persecution against Jews in Russia, immigrated to New York City shortly before her birth. Her mother died while Margolin was still young, and she spent the rest of her childhood at the Jewish Children's Home in New Orleans. She graduated from Isidore Newman School in 1925. Early life Margolin was born in New York City, the daughter of Benjamin and Annette (née Lief) Margolin. Jamie Margolin (born December 10, 2001) is an American climate justice activist. She is the Co-Executive director of Zero Hour. Education Margolin attended Holy Names Academy. She currently studies film at the New York University Tisch School of the Arts. Bruce Margolin (born September 11, 1941) is an American criminal defense attorney who specializes in marijuana and drug laws. Since 1973, he has served as the executive director of the Los Angeles chapter of NORML (National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws). Deb Margolin is an American performance artist and playwright. She came to prominence in the 1980s in the feminist political theatre troupe Split Britches, which she co-founded with Lois Weaver and Peggy Shaw. Margolin has since created a string of one-woman shows. A compilation of her texts, ''Of All The Nerve: Deb Margolin SOLO'', was published in 1999 by Cassell/Continuum Press. Anna Margolin ( yi, אַננאַ מאַרגאָלין) is the pen name of Rosa Harning Lebensboym (1887–1952) a twentieth century Jewish Russian-American, Yiddish language poet. Biography Born in Brest, then part of the Russian Empire, she was educated up to secondary school level, where she studied Hebrew. She first went to New York in 1906, and permanently settled there in 1913. Most of her poetry was written there. Margolin was associated with both the Di Yunge and ‘introspectivist’ groups in the Yiddish poetry scene at the time, but her poetry is uniquely her own. Carol Heifetz Neiman (1937 – 1990) was an American artist who was a member of the feminist art movement of the 1970s, known for her surrealist and xerox art. She also created etchings, and worked in pencil, pastels, and mixed media and was a painter. Early life Carol Neiman was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1937 to Benjamin Neiman and Lillian Heifetz.
