Margaret Murphy (born 14 April 1959) is a British crime writer. Biography Margaret Murphy was born and brought up in Liverpool, Lancashire where she gained a degree in Environmental Biology at the University of Liverpool and later an MA with Distinction in Writing at Liverpool JMU, a course on which she lectured for several years. She has been a countryside ranger, science teacher, dyslexia specialist and psychology student. After a string of successful stand-alone novels and a duology featuring Chester-based lawyer, Clara Pascal, Murphy began her first series with ''The Dispossessed'' which was followed by ''Now You See Me'', featuring detectives Jeff Rickman, Lee Foster and Naomi Hart. The third in the series will be published in 2020. Margaret Pearl "Digit" Murphy (née Degidio; born December 7, 1961) is an American ice hockey coach, administrator, and former college ice hockey player. She is president of the Toronto Six of the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL). Murphy has served as head coach of the Boston Blades, with whom she won two Clarkson Cups, and Kunlun Red Star WIH in the Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL). She served as both head coach and president of the Toronto Six in the NWHL during the team’s inaugural season. Prior to joining the Blades, she was the head coach of the Brown Bears women's ice hockey program. She became the winningest coach in NCAA Division I women's ice hockey history during her 18th season at Brown (2006–07). She finished her NCAA coaching career with 318 wins. "Peggy" Murphy (February 3, 1930 – December 13, 2016) was an American politician who served in the Maryland House of Delegates and was the first female African-American chairman of the Baltimore City Delegation. Murphy was one of three delegates serving the 41st legislative district, which lies in the central, northwest section of Baltimore City. Background Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Murphy attended Baltimore public schools and graduated from Douglass high school. She later graduated from Coppin State College with a B.S. in 1952. Margaret Booth (née Murphy) is an Australian vision-impaired Paralympic Games athletics and goalball competitor. Personal life Murphy was diagnosed with the genetic eye condition, retinitis pigmentosa, when she was just four-years-old; the same eye condition as her mother. During her high school years her sight began to deteriorate rapidly and she was enrolled into the Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children. After learning how to use a white cane through a program tailored by a Guide Dogs orientation and mobility specialist, she received her first guide dog, Matilda, in 1989. After finishing school, she undertook a secretarial course at TAFE before working for the Commonwealth Bank for nine years. During her career she taught people how to use computers. Rosalind Mary Garcias de Cadiz (15 June 1878 – 22 January 1955) and Leila Gertrude Garcias de Cadiz (born c. 1879), known as the Cadiz sisters, were two sisters notable for their militant involvement in the Suffragette movement in Ireland. They went by the names Jane Murphy and Margaret (Maggie) Murphy during their militancy. Biographies Born in Madras, India to Margarita Lawder, a Roscommon woman travelling to India and Thomas Raymond de Cadiz, a Spanish lawyer born in Trinidad, the sisters were two of six children in total.
