Marcus Vinicius (also spelled Vinucius) was a Roman senator and general, who held a number of posts in the service of the first Roman emperor, Augustus. Vinicius was suffect consul in the latter part of 19 BC with Quintus Lucretius Vespillo as his colleague. Career Born the son of a Roman knight at Cales in ''Regio I'' (''Latium et Campania'') of Italia, Vinicius distinguished himself as ''legatus Augusti pro praetore'' or governor of the imperial province of Gallia Belgica in 25 BC, when he led a successful campaign into Germania. At some point, Vinicius may also have served as governor of the senatorial province of Achaea; an inscription from Corinth, dated to 18–12 BC and honoring his fellow-general, and the Emperor's right-hand man, Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa, reveals that an administrative division of the city had been named the ''tribus Vinicia'', apparently in Vinicius' honor. Marcus Vinicius (c. 5 BC – AD 46) was twice Roman consul and, as husband of Julia Livilla, grandson-in-law (''progener'') of the emperor Tiberius. He was the son and grandson of two consuls, Publius Vinicius (consul 2 AD) and Marcus Vinicius (consul 19 BC). Life Born in Cales in Campania, Vinicius started his senatorial career as quaestor in AD 20. That same year, Vinicius was requested to take part in the defence of Gnaeus Calpurnius Piso for the murder of Germanicus, but refused. He was present for the trial, as his name appears as one of seven witnesses of the '' Senatus consultum de Cn. Pisone patre'', the Roman Senate's official act concerning Piso's trial and punishment. Marcus Vinícius do Nascimento (born 17 June 1963), simply known as Marcus Vinicius, is a Brazilian former professional footballer who played as a forward. Career Marcus Vinícius began his career in the youth sectors of Atlético Mineiro, being top scorer in the baby tooth category. In the main team, he debuted in 1980, but due to fluctuations he was little used in the first few years. He was part of the squads that won the state championship in 1985 and 1986. Marcus Vinicius Carvalho Lopes D'Almeida (born January 30, 1998 in Rio de Janeiro), known as Marcus D'Almeida, is a Brazilian athlete who competes in recurve archery. World runner-up in 2021. In February 2023, he became the first Brazilian to lead the world archery ranking in his category, the recurve bow. Career D'Almeida first competed internationally in 2013, and in 2014 won three gold medals at the South American Games (where he broke all South American records for 1440 Rounds) and qualified for the 2014 Archery World Cup Final as the second highest qualifier, where he won a silver medal, losing to Brady Ellison in the final by shoot-off. Marcus Vinicius Vieira de Souza (born May 31, 1984), commonly known as Marquinhos Vieira, or simply Marquinhos, is a Brazilian professional basketball player. He currently plays with São Paulo FC in the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB). He also represents the senior Brazilian national team. At a height of 2.07 m (6'9") tall, and a weight of 102 kg (225 lbs.), he can play at both the small forward and power forward positions.
