Marcus Sayles
Marcus Sayles (born October 1, 1994) is a professional gridiron football defensive back for the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League (CFL). College career Sayles played college football for the West Georgia Wolves from 2013 to 2016. He started in 46 games where he had 123 tackles, 12 interceptions, and 24 pass breakups. He also set the program record for most career blocked kicks with 13. Professional career Buffalo Bills Sayles signed with the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent on May 5, 2017. He was waived on September 2, 2017 and was signed to the Bills' practice squad the next day. He was released on September 5, 2017. Los Angeles Rams On November 22, 2017, Sayles was signed to the Los Angeles Rams' practice squad. He was released on December 5, 2017, but was re-signed on December 13. In gridiron football, defensive backs (DBs), also called the secondary, are the players on the defensive side of the ball who play farthest back from the line of scrimmage. Halfback (Canadian Football)
The halfback in Canadian football, and most commonly the Canadian Football League, currently refers to the defensive back rather than the running back, as in American football. The defensive halfback lines up inside covering the slotback. They are usually slightly larger than the cornerback to assist the linebackers in stopping the run. They can also be seen backing off the line early, to counter the forward motion of a slotback, which is allowed before the snap in the CFL. The cause of the difference in naming between the two positions between the American and Canadian game, which otherwise uses the same names for positions, stems from the early history of the game. 2018 CFL Season
The 2018 CFL season was the 65th season of modern-day Canadian football. Officially, it was the 61st Canadian Football League season. Edmonton hosted the 106th Grey Cup on November 25, 2018. The CFL announced that this season will move to a 21-week regular season (previously a 20-week season) to increase player rest time and reduce short turnaround-times for games. Given the change, the regular season began on June 14, 2018, one week earlier than usual, and concluded on November 3, 2018.
