Marcus Harris (cricketer)
Marcus Sinclair Harris (born 21 July 1992) is an Australian cricketer who plays as an opening batter for Victoria in domestic cricket. He made his Test cricket debut for the Australia national cricket team in December 2018 against India. Cricket career Western Australia Harris began playing first-class cricket for Western Australia in the 2010–11 summer. His maiden first-class century came in just his third match, when he made 157 against Queensland. This made him the youngest Australian to score a first class 150, breaking a 115-year-old record set by Clem Hill. Harris played semi-regularly for Western Australia over the next six years, and was even named man of the match in the 2014–15 Sheffield Shield final for scoring 81 and 158 in his two innings. First-class Cricket
First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is one of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Matches must allow for the teams to play two innings each, although in practice a team might play only one innings or none at all. The etymology of "first-class cricket" is unknown, but it was used loosely before it acquired official status in 1895, following a meeting of leading English clubs. Cameron Bancroft
Cameron Timothy Bancroft (born 19 November 1992) is an Australian cricketer contracted to Western Australia in Australian first class cricket, Durham in English first class cricket, and the Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League. He made his Test debut for the Australian national team in November 2017. As a result of a Cricket Australia investigation into a ball tampering incident during the 3rd Test against South Africa in March 2018, Bancroft and two others, captain Steve Smith and vice-captain David Warner, were charged by Cricket Australia on 27 March 2018 with bringing the game into disrepute, suspended, and sent home from the tour. Steven Peter Devereux Smith (born 2 June 1989) is an Australian international cricketer and former captain of the Australian national team. Travis Dean
Travis Jeffrey Dean (born 1 February 1992) is an Australian cricketer who plays first-class cricket for Victoria. Dean came to attention playing premier cricket for Footscray-Edgewater, and was one of the competition's top batsmen in the 2014-15 season. Following these performances, Dean was selected to make his first-class debut for Victoria at age 23 on 28 October 2015, in a day-and-night Sheffield Shield match. In the match he made two unbeaten centuries opening the batting, with scores of 154 not out and 109 not out, making him the first player to score centuries in both innings on debut in the Sheffield Shield competition, and the second Australian player after Arthur Morris to do so on first-class debut. 2016–17 Sheffield Shield Season
The 2016–17 Sheffield Shield season was the 115th season of the Sheffield Shield, the domestic first-class cricket competition in Australia. It started on 25 October 2016 and finished on 30 March 2017. There was a break between December and January for the Big Bash League. The first round of matches were played as day/night games in preparation for Australia's day/night Test match against Pakistan on 15 December 2016. A second day/night round of fixtures took place in round five of the tournament. Victoria qualified for the final after their 8 wicket win against Western Australia in round 9 of the competition. Cricket Australia XI
Cricket Australia XI is a domestic cricket team that plays matches against international teams touring Australia. The team formerly played in Australia's JLT Cup limited-overs tournament. Before each tournament, a 14-man squad was selected from young players with state contracts, or Australian National Performance Squad players, who had not been picked in their respective states' 14-man List A squads for that season's tournament. The aim was to develop their skills against top players. The addition of the Cricket Australia XI to the JLT One-Day Cup expanded the competition to seven teams. The team made their List A debut against New South Wales on 5 October 2015, losing by 279 runs. They scored their first win five days later against Tasmania, winning by 3 runs. The 2015–16 Matador BBQs One-Day Cup was the 46th season of the official List A domestic cricket competition in Australia. It was played over a four-week period at the start of the domestic season to separate its schedule before the Sheffield Shield. The tournament was held in Sydney, with most matches broadcast live on free-to-air television on GEM. List A cricket is a classification of the limited-overs (one-day) form of the sport of cricket, with games lasting up to eight hours. List A cricket includes One Day International (ODI) matches and various domestic competitions in which the number of overs in an innings per team ranges from forty to sixty, as well as some international matches involving nations who have not achieved official ODI status. Together with first-class and Twenty20 cricket, List A is one of the three major forms of cricket recognised by the International Cricket Council (ICC). Justin Lee Langer (21 November 1970) is an Australian cricket coach and former cricketer. He is the former coach of the Australia men's national team, having been appointed to the role in May 2018 and leaving in February 2022. Big Bash League
The Big Bash League (known as the KFC Big Bash League for sponsorship reasons, often abbreviated to BBL or Big Bash) is an Australian professional club Twenty20 cricket league, which was established in 2011 by Cricket Australia. The Big Bash League replaced the previous competition, the KFC Twenty20 Big Bash, and features eight city-based franchises instead of the six state teams which had participated previously.
