Marcos Ramírez (born March 31, 1981) is an American former professional boxer who competed from 2000 to 2008. Ramírez is a former World Boxing Organization, WBO-North American Boxing Organization, NABO and International Boxing Federation, IBF Latino featherweight champion. Personal life Marcos a current firefighter, was once 21-0 and on the fast track to a shot at the world Featherweight championship. Until his first-born son, Diego, died unexpectedly in January 2006 at the age of 13 months. All Ramírez knows is that there was a fever that did not subside. He lost his passion for boxing after Diego's death. After a brief comeback, he retired from boxing in 2008 with a career record of 25–1. Marcos Ramírez Fernández (born 16 December 1997) is a Spanish Grand Prix motorcycle racer, competing for American Racing in the 2023 Moto2 World Championship. Career Junior career In 2012 he was a competitor of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup, and qualified on pole position in his first ever race, the opening round in Jerez, eventually finishing the race in 2nd. He would score two other 2nd places in Assen and Aragon, finishing 6th in the championship with 153 points. In 2013 he would return, and score five 3rd places in Assen, Silverstone, Misano, Aragon and Valencia, finishing 5th overall, with 145 points. Moto3 Junior Championship In 2014, Ramírez competed in the Moto3 Junior championship, and performed well. He was a regular point finisher, and scored a podium at Portimao. He was also given his Moto3 debut for a one-off wild card race, in his home country of Spain, for the Moto3 Grand Prix in Jerez, which he finished in 21st place.
