Marco Berthelot
Marco Berthelot (born December 11, 1972 in Murdochville, Quebec) is a Canadian curler from Longueuil, Quebec. After playing lead for Michel Ferland at the 1991 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, Berthelot would be bumped up to third on Ferland's team and they won the 1992 Canadian Juniors. This qualified them for the 1993 World Junior Curling Championships where they won a silver medal - losing to Scotland (skipped by Craig Wilson) in the final. Berthelot played at the 2000 and 2001 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship at second position for Jean-Michel Ménard and won in 2001. In 2006, Berthelot joined up with Pierre Charette and Berthelot won his first Quebec men's provincial championship in 2007. Murdochville, Quebec
Murdochville is a town in Quebec, Canada, one of only a few inland communities on the Gaspé Peninsula. Its population (as of 2016) is 651. Murdochville is located along Quebec Route 198 in the geographic township of Holland, south of L'Anse-Pleureuse and west of Gaspé. It is above sea level and surrounded by high mountains. History In 1921, copper ore was discovered in the area by the Miller brothers: Alfred, Sydney, Frederick, Angus and Theophilus. However, it was not until 1950 that Noranda Mines actually began mining. The mining town was set up and named after James Y. Murdoch, owner of the mine and first president of Noranda. In 1953, the town was incorporated. The mining operation in the town was comparatively large, starting with mining the raw ore and finishing with an end product of pure copper anode. Curling Quebec
Curling is a sport in which players slide stones on a sheet of ice toward a target area which is segmented into four concentric circles. It is related to bowls, boules, and shuffleboard. Two teams, each with four players, take turns sliding heavy, polished granite stones, also called ''rocks'', across the ice ''curling sheet'' toward the ''house'', a circular target marked on the ice. Each team has eight stones, with each player throwing two. The purpose is to accumulate the highest score for a ''game''; points are scored for the stones resting closest to the centre of the house at the conclusion of each ''end'', which is completed when both teams have thrown all of their stones once. Martin Ferland
Martin Ferland (born November 8, 1970) is a Canadian curler from Trois-Rivières, Quebec. Career Born in Drummondville, Quebec, Ferland was a member of the 2007 Quebec champion team, that was skipped by Pierre Charette. Ferland threw last stones for the team. At that first Brier, Ferland's team finished with a 4-7 record. Ferland was also the 1989 provincial junior champion skip. He skipped Quebec at the 1989 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, but lost to Dean Joanisse of British Columbia in the final. Ferland has been one of the more visible Quebec based teams on the World Curling Tour (WCT). During the 2010s, he regularly competed in World Curling Tour events, while other Quebec rinks were less visible. Pierre G. "The Duffer" Charette (born June 23, 1955) is a Canadian curler from Ottawa, Ontario. He currently coaches the Silvana Tirinzoni rink Career Born in Masson, Quebec, Charette has played in thirteen Briers, and was the first curler to have played every position (including alternate) at a Brier. He skipped teams in 1989, 1993 and 2007; played third for Guy Hemmings in 1998 and 1999, played second for Don Westphal in 1997, played lead for Westphal in 1996 and was the alternate for Kevin Adams in 1991, Ted Butler in 1992 and Jean-Michel Ménard in 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017. Jean-Michel Ménard (born January 19, 1976) is a curler from Aylmer, Quebec, Canada. Ménard is notable for being the first Francophone born skip from Quebec to win the Brier - Canada's national curling championship- which he did in 2006. In 2022 he won the World Mixed Curling Championship. Career While living in Aylmer, Quebec and playing in leagues at the Ottawa Curling Club and the Rideau Curling Club, Ménard also represents the Club de Curling Etchemin in Saint-Romuald, Quebec along with his team of Martin Crête, Éric Sylvain and brother Philippe Ménard. Craig Wilson (curler)
Craig Wilson (born 14 September 1973 in Dumfries) is a Scottish curler from Dunblane. In 1993, Wilson won the World Junior Curling Championships for his Scotland team over Michel Ferland of Canada. However, the following year he would finish 5th. Wilson wouldn't return to an international event until 2003 when he played third for David Murdoch and won a gold medal at the European Curling Championships. At the 2005 Ford World Men's Curling Championship, Wilson would win a silver medal with Murdoch as they lost to Canada's Randy Ferbey team in the final.
