"March On! (You Fighting Sycamores)" is the official school fight song of Indiana State University. The song and lyrics were written by ISU professor of music Joseph A. Indiana State University (ISU) is a public university in Terre Haute, Indiana. It was founded in 1865 and offers over 100 undergraduate majors and more than 75 graduate and professional programs. Indiana State is classified among "D/PU: Doctoral/Professional Universities". History A seminary building was constructed and later used for Vigo Collegiate Institute. After several years the school closed and the property sold to be part of a public institution of education. It is now part of the Indiana State University campus. Indiana State University was established by the Indiana General Assembly on December 20, 1865, as the Indiana State Normal School in Terre Haute. "Cheer for the Blue and White" is a fight song of Indiana State University Indiana State University (ISU) is a public university in Terre Haute, Indiana. "Cheer for the Blue and White" was written in 1931 as an entry in the 1931 College song contest, and was selected by the Song Book committee as the winner, making it the first official pep song of the college. The Indiana State University Marching Sycamores, is the marching band of Indiana State University. The Marching Sycamores are the university's musical ambassadors, and are one of the most active and visible student organizations on campus, with a long and proud tradition. In addition to performing at all home games, the Marching Sycamores have performed for half time shows at games of the NFL's Chicago Bears and Indianapolis Colts, the Brickyard 400 NASCAR race, National Bands of America Finals, the Mid-States Marching Band Contest, and several other exhibition performances throughout the region. The Marching Sycamores first appeared on campus in 1933, with 42 members and a drum major. The band played at every football and basketball home game, as well as baseball games against Purdue and Indiana University.
