Marcelo Valverde (swimmer)
Marcelo dos Santos Farias Valverde, better known as Marcelo Valverde (born November 21, 1989), is a Brazilian goalkeeper and Forward who plays for U.D . Santarém in Portugal. Career Marcelo Valverde, Marcelinho, began his career in a small school that was held in the condominium where he lives. However, at 10 years, driven by a friend of his father to the Estádio da Gávea, auditioned for the team of Flamengo, has been approved, and is there today, with much success in the youth ranks of red-black. The young archer is currently the team's youth club, where he has won several titles. Among them, the tricampeonato state under-19 and the same state, however, the Under-17, and Copa OPG and Copa Belo Horizonte. Next season, in 2008, the goalkeeper will have 19 years, and thus may continue to participate in disputes in the juniors, if not promoted to the professional team. The Taça Belo Horizonte de Juniores (or ''Belo Horizonte Youth Cup'', in English), also known as Taça Belo Horizonte de Futebol Júnior or Taça BH, is a cup competition usually played by 36 Brazilian under-20 football teams, most of them from Minas Gerais state. The 2006 competition's trophy was named after Telê Santana. Format In the first stage the 36 teams are divided in 6 groups. The top 2 of each group, plus the top four 3rd placed teams, qualify to the knockout stage. From the round of 16 to the final there are only one-leg matches, as all matches are played in Minas Gerais state. An edition of this cup lasts about 40 days. The Macaé Youth Cup ('' Portuguese: Copa Macaé de Juvenis'') was an under-17 football cup formed by Brazilian and international teams. The competition was organized by the Macaense Sporting League (''Liga Macaense de Desportos'') in association with the Rio de Janeiro Football Federation, and it ran from 1997 until 2009.
