Marcelo Calero
Marcelo Calero Faria Garcia (born 7 July 1982) is a Brazilian diplomat and politician. He was Minister of Culture (Brazil), Minister of Culture of the government Michel Temer. In 2018, Calero was elected as a deputy with the Cidadania, Cidadania Party with endorsement from the classically liberal Livres (movement), Livres movement. He is openly gay and is the second LGBT person to be elected as a Member of Congress. Eduardo Paes
Eduardo da Costa Paes (, born 14 November 1969) is a Brazilian politician who was the mayor of the city of Rio de Janeiro from 2009 to 2012, re-elected for a second term from 2013 to 2016 and returning elected again in 2021. He is currently the 13th mayor of Rio de Janeiro. On 12 August 2012, at the 2012 Summer Olympics closing ceremony, Paes received the Olympic Flag, via Jacques Rogge, from London Mayor Boris Johnson. Paes was a noted trenchant critic of the Lula administration, particularly during the Mensalão scandal in 2005 over alleged payments to congressmen for votes. When it came to his administration as Rio de Janeiro's mayor, scandals continued to occur. The Ministry of Culture of Brazil was a ministry of the Brazilian government, created on March 15, 1985 by the president José Sarney and extinct on May 12, 2016 by Michel Temer. Before 1985, the duties of the ministry were of authority of the Ministry of Education, which from 1953 to 1985 was called the Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC). Ministry of Culture was responsible for the letters, arts, folklore and other forms of expression of national culture and for the historical, archaeological, artistic and cultural heritage of Brazil. After being extinct, their function was incorporated into the Ministry of Education again. There were 17 Ministers of Culture. The first was José Aparecido de Oliveira, and the last, Juca Ferreira. It was originally founded as the Popular Socialist Party ( pt, Partido Popular Socialista, PPS) by members of the former Brazilian Communist Party (PCB), as a centre-left social democratic and democratic socialist party. Despite its left-wing aligment, PPS moved to be opposition against the Workers' Party since 2004, forming alliances with center-right parties, in particular the Brazilian Social Democracy Party (PSDB), and supporting the Impeachment of Dilma Rousseff.
