Marcello Pittella
Marcello Pittella (born 4 June 1962) is an Italian politician. He has served as President of the Basilicata region from 2013 to 2019. He was formerly a member of the Democratic Party (PD), but is now associated with Carlo Calenda's Action party. Career Born in Lauria, Pittella's father Domenico and brother Gianni were also politicians. Marcello the mayor of Lauria from 2001 to 2005. in April 2005, he was elected to the Basilicata Regional Council and re-elected in 2010. He joined the Basilicata's Regional Government in 2012 as Assessor to productive activity. He was the Vice President from April 2013 to September 2013. Giovanni Saverio Furio Pittella (born 19 November 1958) is an Italian politician who served as Leader of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats Group from 2014 to 2018 and Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from Italy from 1999 to 2018. He previously served as First Vice President of the European Parliament from 2009 to 2014. The ''Guardia di Finanza'' (G. di F. or GdF) () (English: literal: ''Guard of Finance'', paraphrased: ''Financial Police'' or ''Financial Guard'') is an Italian law enforcement agency under the authority of the Minister of Economy and Finance. It is a militarized police force, forming a part of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, not the Ministry of Defence. Domenico Pittella (7 February 1932 – 15 April 2018) was an Italian politician. He was born on 7 February 1932 in Lauria. Pittella was trained as a surgeon. A member of the Italian Socialist Party, he served on the Senate between 1972 and 1983. He fell and broke his hip on 14 February 2018, and died in Lauria, aged 86, on 15 April of complications from the injury.
