Marcel Rodman
Marcel Rodman (September 25, 1981) is a Slovenian former professional ice hockey forward. Playing career Rodman was drafted by the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League (NHL) in 2001, but never played in the NHL. He has played for the Krefeld Pinguine of the DEL, and the Graz 99ers, Vienna Capitals and HK Acroni Jesenice of the Austrian Hockey League. On July 18, 2013, Rodman left SC Bietigheim-Bissingen of the 2nd Bundesliga and signed as a free agent to newly promoted DEL club, Schwenningen Wild Wings. During the 2014–15 season, Rodman left KHL Medveščak Zagreb after only appearing in 9 scoreless games with the club. He returned to the EBEL, signing with EC KAC for the remainder of the season. In 21 games with KAC, Rodman brought stability and depth to the forward lines, scoring 11 points before suffering a season-ending injury preventing him from contributing in the playoffs in which KAC would claim the championship. Rodine, Žirovnica
Rodine () is one of ten villages in the Municipality of Žirovnica in the Upper Carniola region of Slovenia. In recent years, the settlement has grown northwards, further up the hill side and westwards to reach right to the outskirts of Smokuč. There are open fields and forests to the east and south of the village. History There is evidence of Ancient Rome, Roman settlement in the area of Rodine with the remains of a Roman farm (villa rustica) in Ključi. This was partially excavated in 1959, and finds show that it was settled from the late 1st century AD until the 5th century. Goal (ice Hockey)
In ice hockey, a goal is scored when the puck entirely crosses the goal line between the two goal posts and below the goal crossbar. A goal awards one point to the team attacking the goal scored upon, regardless of which team the player who actually deflected the puck into the goal belongs to (see also own goal). Typically, a player on the team attempting to score shoots the puck with their stick towards the goal net opening, and a player on the opposing team called a goaltender tries to block the shot to prevent a goal from being scored against their team. 2008 IIHF World Championship
The 2008 IIHF World Championship was played between May 2 and May 18, 2008 in the Canadian cities of Halifax (Nova Scotia) and Quebec City (Quebec). The two venues were the Halifax Metro Centre and the Colisée Pepsi. The tournament was won by Russia which claimed its first gold medal since 1993. It was the 72nd IIHF World Championship event, and was run by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). It was the first time the final tournament is held in a non-European country since 1962, when it was held in Colorado, USA. The IIHF wanted to celebrate the federation's 100th anniversary by holding the tournament in the country where ice hockey was born. International Ice Hockey Federation
The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF; french: Fédération internationale de hockey sur glace; german: Internationale Eishockey-Föderation) is a worldwide governing body for ice hockey. It is based in Zurich, Switzerland, and has 83 member countries. The IIHF maintains the IIHF World Ranking based on international ice hockey tournaments. Rules of play for IIHF events differ from hockey in North America and the rules of the National Hockey League (NHL). IIHF World Championships
The Ice Hockey World Championships are an annual international men's ice hockey tournament organized by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). First officially held at the 1920 Summer Olympics, it is the sport's highest profile annual international tournament. The IIHF was created in 1908 while the European Championships, the precursor to the World Championships, were first held in 1910. The tournament held at the 1920 Summer Olympics is recognized as the first Ice Hockey World Championship. David Rodman
David Rodman (born 10 September 1983) is a Slovenian professional ice hockey player who plays for DVTK Jegesmedvék of the Tipsport Liga in Slovakia. He previously played with the Graz99ers of the EBEL during the 2014–15 season, on 15 January 2015, from Swedish HockeyAllsvenskan club, IK Oskarshamn. On 8 August 2015 Rodman returned to the Germany second tier, signing a one-year deal with Dresdner Eislöwen of the DEL2.
