is a 1943 Japanese film directed by Koga Masato. It tells the story of Tani Yutaka Yutaka Tani (谷 豊 ''Tani Yutaka'', Malay: Mohd Ali bin Abdullah; November 6, 1911 – March 17, 1942) was a vigilante, local hero, and saboteur who was active in Malaya (now Peninsular Malaysia). Yutaka Tani (谷 豊 ''Tani Yutaka'', Malay: Mohd Ali bin Abdullah; November 6, 1911 – March 17, 1942) was a vigilante, local hero, and saboteur who was active in Malaya (now Peninsular Malaysia). After he took his education in Japan, his family returned to Malaya, where he lived at Kuala Terengganu where they worked at a shop. There, he converted to Islam after being influenced by the local Malay culture of his friends. He also secretly married a Malay woman, but they later divorced. In 1931, when he was 20 years old, he returned to Japan for a military inspection. Although he worked for a shoe company, he missed his home and returned to Malaya. Tomoyuki Yamashita
was a Japanese officer and convicted war criminal, who was a general in the Imperial Japanese Army during World War II. Yamashita led Japanese forces during the invasion of Malaya and Battle of Singapore, with his accomplishment of conquering Malaya and Singapore in 70 days earning him the sobriquet "The Tiger of Malaya" and led to the British Prime Minister Winston Churchill calling the ignominious fall of Singapore to Japan the "worst disaster" and "largest capitulation" in British military history. Yamashita was assigned to defend the Philippines from the advancing Allied forces later in the war, and while unable to prevent the Allied advance, he was able to hold on to part of Luzon until after the formal Surrender of Japan in August 1945.
