Mara Mattuschka
Mara Mattuschka (born 22 May 1959) is an Austrian ''avant-garde'' filmmaker. Life Mattuschka was born in Sofia in Bulgaria in 1959. At the age of 17, in 1976, she moved to Vienna to study Ethnology and Linguistics. In 1983, she entered Maria Lassnig's masterclass in animation and painting at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and started making her first short films. Her graduation film ''Der Einzug des Rokoko ins Inselreich der Huzis'' caused a small scandal at the university in 1989, because it mixed animation, theatre, performance, music and fine arts. She graduated in 1990. From 1997 until 2001 she taught arts at Braunschweig University of Art in Germany. She also taught at University of Art and Design Linz. In the 2000s she started working with the dance ensemble Liquid Loft and Chris Haring. Her first feature film was made in 2012. Chris Haring
Christian Haring (* 18 December 1970, Schattendorf) is an Austrian Dancer and Choreographer. He is founder and artistic director of the dance compagnie Liquid Loft. Life Chris Haring studied at Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna and in New York, within others at Cunningham School. He worked as a dancer with compagnies like Nikolais/Luis Dance Cie. (US), man act (GB), Nigel Charnock (GB), DV8 Physical Theatre (GB), Cie. Willi Dorner (AT) and Pilottanzt (AT). For his own choreografies we worked with fine artists such as Erwin Wurm, Michel Blazy and Aldo Giannotti, musician Peter Rehberg or media artist Klaus Obermaier. Together with filmmaker Mara Mattuschka. he co-directed movies based on his performances. Together with the musician Andreas Berger, dancer Stephanie Cumming and dramaturg Thomas J. The Filmarchiv Austria ("Austrian Film Archive") is an organisation for the discovery, reconstruction and preservation of Austrian film record material: films themselves, literature about film and cinema, or film-related periodicals. With over 260,000 film titles, 2,000,000 photographs and stills, 48,000 cinema programmes, 16,000 film posters, 30,000 books, and an extensive collection of apparatus, documents and costumes, it is the largest such organisation in Austria. Research is always in progress on particular topics in order to enlarge the film content, covering all genres from advertising footage to experimental projects to light entertainment films. Vienna Independent Shorts
Vienna Shorts (formerly known as VIS Vienna Independent Shorts) is an international short film festival held annually in May in Vienna. It is the largest short film festival in Austria. History Vienna Independent Shorts was held in 2004 for the first time. Several Viennese institutions active in the promotion of short films arranged one day of the one-week event. The festival program consisted of 125 short films. Among the venues that have been used continuously since the first festival edition are the Top Kino and the Reformed Church. Since 2005, the festival is hosted the Independent Cinema Association which was founded by the organizers of the first festival edition. For the first time an international competition with 64 films was held. Annually recurring festival events, which were introduced in 2005, are a retrospective of the University of Applied Arts Vienna and a Kino Kabaret.
